VERSE OF THE DAY: For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and I will smite all the first born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast and against all the gods of Egypt. I will execute judgment; I am the LORD – Exodus 12:12.
LISTEN: As the children of Israel continued their servitude in the land of Egypt after the demise of Joseph for several years. They cried out to God for freedom, which at the time appeared hopeless, because God was in the business of transforming them from a family into a nation. Finally Moses divinely arrived to confront their oppressors. In yesterday’s devotion, Egyptian magicians attested to their inability to match the power of God when they said, ” This is the finger of God “ ( Exodus 8:19 ). In demonstrating that Egyptian magicians were no match to him, he plagued the land several times. When he was about to bring upon Egypt the last plague – the death of first born of man and beast, God said to Moses, ” I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and I will smite all the first born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast and against the gods of Egypt. I will execute judgment ; I am the Lord” ( Exodus 12 : 12 ). Perhaps, you are currently going through some afflictions and challenges of life that seems so hopeless; there is good news for you: God is coming to judge your oppressors and to set you free (Exo. 2:24). All you need to do is to cry unto him and expect His divine intervention.
God visited the land, punished the Egyptians and delivered the Israelites. When there is divine visitation, it could be: 1. For deliverance and freedom as the case of the Israelites. 2. It could be to punish oppressors. 3. It could be to announce a season of favour from the Lord as it were in the case of virgin Mary. Beloved, don’t give up. If you can endure your pain, you will soon enjoy the gain. God said to the people of Israel “For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night … I will execute judgment: I am the Lord”. God promised them that He will deal with the root cause of their slavery not the symptom: Pharaoh was only an instrument through which the devil and the gods of the land wanted to sink an entire generation, and thereby frustrate God’s covenant with Abraham. Because God judged Pharaoh and his gods, he will judge your enemies. Today, any agent or demon on assignment in your life to frustrate God’s plan for you is judged, in Jesus’ name.
Call on God whenever you’re oppressed and expect your deliverance.
Lord God, judge every oppression and affliction orchestrated by the devil in my life, in Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection : When you’re oppressed, turn your oppressors over to God.
Prophetic Word : Today, by the name of Jesus Christ, I demand the release of your life and destiny from your oppressors, every yoke and unseen hands provoking afflictions and curses in your life, I arrest them today in Jesus’ name, amen.
