Verse Of The Day : – Better is a simple meal where love is, than a fat ox and hate with it – Proverbs 15: 17
LISTEN : : It sounds very funny or strange to read that little can be better than great. Although it is everyone’s wish to experience greatness in business, marriage, career, academics, finances, etc. However, when the greatness we pursue cannot bring us the peace and rest of mind we desire, it is worst than having nothing at all. Human problem is not in what we don’t have, but how we respond to what we don’t have. When we have little, we tend to whine and strife with one another. We throw away our divine identity – love; and assume the nature of the enemy – hate. But love binds us together and turn our little into much; while hate make us selfish and enemy towards others.
Every family have their measures of financial and material strength. All families are not the same. Some are rich, while others are poor. Some are living just a little above poverty level, and others are living from hand to mouth. However, riches cannot secure happiness, and poverty cannot destroy it either. Whatever we have, whether great or small we should learn to accept it with joy. Whether we have or have not, we shouldn’t kill ourselves over it, because our lives does not consist of what we have or have not ( Luke 12:15 ).
People, especially husbands and wives should learn to live by this biblical counsel, ” Better is a simple meal where love is, than a house full of feasting with strife”. Most times, wives put unnecessary sustained pressures on their husbands by way of making unnecessary and unattainable requests, even when they knows that their husbands are not able to afford them. Such demands can destroy the peace and happiness of the family, because the man will go out of his way to do what he doesn’t have the financial strength to do. Beloved, love will make all the difference with your little. Try love, it works ( 1 Corinthians 13 : 4-7 ) .
To be able to overcome those familial challenges we encounter daily, let’s heed this piece of advice.
1. Married couples should learn to live within their means
2. Appreciate every provision no matter how little.
3. Wives should avoid unnecessary pressures on their husbands because it can render them widows if not properly managed.
4. However, husbands should not relent to provide something worthy for their families.
Determine to receive every provision of your family with gratitude not with grumble.
Mighty God, today, I receive all your provisions made available to my family by your divine hands. I refuse henceforth to grumble over little in my life, in Jesus ‘ name.
Daily Reflection : where love is, little can gradually and graciously grow into great.
Prophetic Word : Today, I decree upon your life, because you determine to honour God with your little substance in your home, God will transform that little into surplus, in Jesus ‘ name.
