Verse Of The Day: He said unto them, my soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death – Matthew 26:38.

LISTEN:  Yesterday, we read that Jesus Christ took his three closest disciples to a place called Gethsemane to pray and share in his moment of grief ( vv.36 – 37 ). The first strategy he used to fight the situation was to find his trusted spiritual friends – Peter, James and John. Secondly, he did what we’re going to consider in today’s devotional thought. That is, He opened up his soul to the three. He told them the hurt he was feeling inside. He said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even unto death” (Matthew 26:38). At Gethsemane, he told Peter, James and John his trusted and spiritually-minded friends how he was feeling in his last moment leading to the cross.

Similarly, you need someone or group of persons who’re strong and trusted spiritually to help carry your burden of depression and discouragement at some sad moments. You need someone or group of persons who shares your interest, weep when you weep and grieve when you grieve. Yes, they’re hard to find, but they’re out there hidden in the crowd. You just need to carefully search them out. Beloved, someone may have failed you in the past, or hurt you deeply that you vowed to have nothing to do with anyone; never mind, there are still genuine and trustworthy people in the society and the body of Christ the church in particular. Don’t give up on friendship, it will help you in moments when you feel like the world is crashing down on you.

Remember, God gave us his Son, his Word, and his people ( the church ) for help and encouragement. Therefore, don’t neglect them. When it’s all going over your head, remember that there’re people who still cares. Talk to them.

When you’re depressed, use Jesus Christ ‘ approach.

1. Pour out your soul to your trusted friends because they may be of help to you.
2. Don’t forget that someone still cares
3. Don’t allow fear to shut up your mouth even in the face of death.

Daily Task
Don’t allow the torment of depression keep you from enjoying real life.

Daily Reflection :
When depression hit you hard, share the weight with trusted friends.

Blessed Lord, help me to accept your gift of friendship. I accept brothers and sister whom you have given for my support in Jesus ‘ name, amen.

Prophetic Word : Today, by God’s mandate upon my life, I command the spirit of depression to leave your life, in Jesus ‘ name.
