Verse Of The Day : The one who is gracious to the poor lends to the LORD, and the LORD will repay him for his good deed. – Proverbs 19:17 (NET ).
LISTEN : We often receive grace and mercy from God and man, but finds it difficult to give it to others. No one would amount to anything without grace. We all lives by the mercies of God. God’s mercy could come as help from someone, deliverance from danger or accident, healing and recovery from sicknesses and diseases; safe delivery of our pregnant women, our daily provisions, job opportunities, peaceful marriage, act of charity, etc. God has positioned us on earth to be our brothers’ keepers and to demonstrate his love to others. Unfortunately, many has neglected this divine injunction to follow their own selfish ways. They’re always happy to receive from other people but hesitate to be gracious to others.
Jesus Christ gave a rule that everyone should abide by, and he said, In everything, treat others as you would want them to treat you, for this fulfill the law and the prophets – Matthew 7:12 (NET). Friend, how will you like others to treat you? If you’re in trouble will you want others to help you out? Then help others when they’re in trouble. Are you an employee who will want to be promoted? Then promote others when you’re promoted. Are you in need or perhaps poor, and want people to be gracious to you? Then be gracious to others who’re in need.
Being gracious is a mark of godliness. It’s a demonstration of the mind of God. To be gracious is to express generosity of spirit; and attitude marked by kindness and courtesy. Beloved, we’re to help those in need as we have the opportunity ( Galatians 6 : 10 ). Remember, the poor will not cease in the land, therefore we should not hesitate to help those in need. When you help the poor, you’re indirectly giving to God who has promised to repay you. Rather than criticise, curse and taunt the poor and the needy, serve God through meeting their needs.
Having heard this message, what are you expected to do?
1. Be generous to the poor and needy.
2. Serve God through serving others.
3. Always aim for eternal reward.
4 Always remember that you won’t lose the earthly reward of your generosity ( Luke 6 : 38 ).
Don’t ignore the poor and the needy because they’re in need of our help.
Daily Reflection : When you ignore the poor and the needy in their misery, you ignore God.
Almighty God, I ask for grace to honour you by helping the poor and the needy. May I not ignore to share in their plight, in Jesus’ name, amen.
Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, grace to obey God and to serve his purpose has been released upon you. May you not forsake your God-given purpose, in Jesus’ name, amen.
