Verse Of The Day: Bless the LORD oh my soul and forget not all his benefits. Who forgives all your iniquities…who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies – Psalms 103 : 2 – 4.
LISTEN: God is good, but not everyone acknowledges this fact, let alone reciprocating it. Many finds it difficult to appreciate God because they failed to understand what the grace of God has done for them. Man is so apt to forget, that he requires continual exhortations not to do so. To be able to appreciate God, you must be able to remember the past. To remember means, to recall something forgotten. It is obvious that you cannot express gratitude for what you cannot remember. This temptation of forgetfulness was the reason why God said to the Israelites in the Bible book of Deuteronomy 6:12, “Beware, lest you forget the Lord which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt from the house of bondage”.
People tends to forget God when things are okay with them, but are quick to run to Him in times of trouble. Friend, is God only a solution provider and not a praise worthy God? Is He a God that should only be acknowledged and sought after when in trouble, and ignore when you’re in pleasure? Of course not! When you forget who you were before God lifted you up, you will be acting like the ungrateful Israelites who were in slavery for years, but the moment God brought them out and placed them in the land of Canaan, and they ate and were filled, they forgot Him. Their failure to appreciate God for his goodness cost them their joy and peace. Their (Israelites ) enemies subsequently became powerful and triumph over them.
Similarly, when we ignore or refuse to render to God the glory that is due him by giving him our unconditional appreciation, like the Israelites we’re going to regret our actions. Therefore, let’s repent from our attitudes of ingratitude today, and learn to appreciate God for all his benefits towards us.
Having heard this message, what are you expected to do?
1. Always thank God even for the smallest benefits you received.
2. Regularly think on those situations that once seemed impossible which you miraculously overcame and then thank God for it.
3. Don’t allow the thought of your present trials drown the memories of your past victories.
4. Always study to thank God no matter what.
At all times try to maintain and sustain attitude of gratitude, especially to God.
Daily Reflection : Those with short memories can hardly appreciate God for benefits received.
LORD God, May I not ignore, forget, or undermine your act of love and goodness towards me. From today, help me to appreciate you for everything, in Jesus’ name, amen.
Prophetic Word : By the mandate of heaven, I prophesy upon your life, the heart to appreciate God for his goodness. You will never be ungrateful to him for his countless blessings in your lif. This season is your season of greatness and success, in Jesus ‘ name, amen.
