Verse Of The Day : But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint – Isaiah 40:31.
LISTEN: Prayer is not just asking God what we want as some thought, prayer is much more than that. Prayer is a time spent in communication and communion with God Almighty. Through prayer, we receive strength for life challenges and our faith in God is equally strengthened. In waiting upon the Lord, the ability to escape the devil’s trap (temptation) is released to us. The bible book of Luke 22: 46 says, “… pray, lest you enter into temptation”. The meaning of which is, when we disregard and neglect the duty of prayer, we make ourselves incapable of overcoming temptation: that is, we make ourselves vulnerable to the assault of the enemy, the devil.
However, when we receive God’s strength through prayer, we can stand bold in the face of temptation like Joseph to Potiphar’s promiscuous wife and declare, “How can I commit this great sin against my God?” (Gen. 39:9). Every serious minded christian would spend time in prayer, because prayer edifies, strengthens and preserves. Prayer is a spiritual exercise, the more you do it the stronger you get spiritually. Those who undermines the power of prayer will end up being assaulted and humiliated by the enemy.
Prayer is necessary for our daily spiritual revival and refreshing. Each day comes with its pressures, burdens, fears, challenges, etc; all these sap both our physical and spiritual energies. Most times they leave us empty of strength, frustrated and confused. At such times, where can we find solace and help if not in the secret place of the Almighty most high? When we wait upon the Lord, that is, pray and soak ourselves with his presence, we will discover new strength for our tired souls.
Friend, you will discover hidden strength and refreshing grace when you spend time at the altar of prayer. So make sure no day passes by without building up yourself in the exercise of prayer. Perhaps you don’t know how to pray, just begin by thanking God for your life and people around you and then present your challenges before him. Then listen for His response through His word or impression on your mind in line with His word.
Having read today’s devotional, what is your responsibility in today’s message?
1. Don’t neglect the duty of prayer nor undermine its power.
2. Spend quality time in the presence of God to discover divine help.
3. When your spirit is down, turn to God.
4. Resist the temptation to a busy life without God.
Take any time of the day that is convenient for you and then pray daily for a whole full month to form a habit of prayer; it won’t be long the benefits will manifest.
Almighty God, I don’t know how I ought to pray, therefore, grant me the ability to pray in line with your will, in Jesus ‘ name, amen.
Daily Reflection : He who spend time in the presence of God, will walk in the power of his glory.
Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, your time in the presence of God will not be a wasted effort. I decree upon your life, strength and passion for prayer, in Jesus ‘ name.
