Verse Of The Day: In the time of my fear, I will have faith in you. – Psalms 56:3 (BBE).
LISTEN: What does it mean to be afraid? It means to be filled with fear or apprehension; it is a fearful expectation or anticipation. Many things in life are enemies of our peace and wellbeing, such things fight relentlessly to make us lose our peace and joy. They make us doubt God and his power to save; as a result, we spend more time on worry than strive to grow our faith. People tend to worry and get anxious anytime they’re confronted with challenges and life threatening situations; they failed to realize that worry and fear had never generated solutions, but more worries.
To stay positive in life, you must fight fear and anxiety with faith. Faith in God is the antidote to fear. George Muller, a Christian Evangelist said, “The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety”. Beloved, you’re afraid of the situation around you because your faith is not working. Put your faith into use and fear will disappear. But when you choose not to use your faith fear will continue to rule.
This is the reason why David in his time of afflictions, worry and fear said, “when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you (God)”. Beloved, have you ever attempted to find out from the scriptures why God through his servant Apostle Paul, commanded us to put on the shield of faith? It is because life is a battle field with certainty of casualties. In the battle field of life, what we need is faith: faith draws the poison from every grief, takes the sting from every loss; and quenches the fire of every pain. Beloved, are you sick and the fear of death has dominated your thoughts? Are you facing some life threatening situations and all you see around you is doom? Are you having some financial challenges and it does appear to you as if life is not going to be the same again? Cheer up! Put your faith in God; cast your worries to him, and trust him anytime you are afraid. Resist fear and worry, for they’re just there to destroy you. Beware! (Psalms 34:4).
