Verse Of The Day: Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage – right up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.- Luke 17:26-27 (NET).

LISTEN: Busyness, hurrying, festivity and no time for God are few of the many things that characterises our world today. That was equally the state of things in the days of Noah before the great flood. Business and life was going on as usual; people were getting married and doing business as we do today. Festivity and ceremonies went on as usual, perhaps, in burial places, in clubs, in child naming ceremonies, in project or house dedications, etc. It was just normal until the calamity struck – the deluge.

Before the flood, God ordered Noah to build an ark for their safety. Noah did according to the orders of God and warned the people of the impending doom if they refuse to repent. They laughed him to scorn and ignored his warnings, just the same way people do today to ministers of God and the gospel of Christ they proclaims. Beloved, was Noah the only man in his generation who heard about God? Off course not. Others heard just like Noah but disregarded it. Noah got to know God because he developed intimacy with Him, thereby trusting all His word to be true.

“Friendship is the foundation of influence”, they say. Noah’s life was influenced by God because Noah established friendship with Him. Through his closeness and obedience to God, both him and his family escaped the judgment of God represented by the flood. Beloved, what are you waiting for? Remember, Jesus is coming back, not as the helpless baby and crucified Jesus, but this time as a judge (Rev. 22:12; John 5:22) Are you ready for Him? If not, make haste and turn away from your evil ways and you will certainly escape his wrath as Noah escaped the destruction of the flood.

Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Discipline yourself and make room for Christ Jesus in your daily “tight schedule”.
2. Don’t be influenced by evil trends in the society.
3. Be watchful and prayerful each day as you go through this world.
4. Consciously learn from the mistake of Noah’s generation.

Daily Task
Make a conscious decision today not to be busy to the point where you don’t have time for God and his word.

Daily Reflection : Living in a careless and wicked  world should not leave you careless and wicked.

Merciful Father, forgive my careless and nonchalant attitudes to life. Give me the ability to overcome every distraction keeping me from faithfully following you in Jesus’ name, amen.

Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy upon your life, you will not be deceive by evil trends in the world. May God give you the grace to overcome the pressures to compromise your faith in Jesus ‘ name.
