Verse Of The Day : And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.- 2 chronicles 14:6 (NET).
LISTEN: Imagine yourself living in a place where there is no peace, will you be comfortable and at peace with yourself? You will agree with me that Life can be frustrating, miserable, unpleasant and torturous without peace. Peace is the foundation of development and progress. Where there is no peace the people struggle to develop or make progress. The absence of peace could bring about the destruction of previously developed projects and society.
Peace which is synonymous with rest in our verse of the day is from God. It is a state of quiet and tranquillity; freedom from disturbance or agitation. It is the absence of war. In our verse of the day, we read about the exploits of Asa, king of Judah because of the presence of God with him (v.6). God is the God of peace therefore can bless you with it when you walk with him. The bible said, “Asa did what was right in the sight of God by destroying pagan altars and encouraging the people to seek the LORD”(vv.2-5).
The result of his dedication to God was rest (peace). He built fortified cities against enemy’s invasion and prospered because God gave him rest as much as he sought the LORD. For the period king Asa sought the LORD he gave him peace and made him to prosper.
Beloved, are you in desperate need of peace in your life today? First, make peace with God and sustain your relationship with him and his peace (rest) will be yours. Notice that when King Asa sought the LORD he blessed him and when he abandoned the LORD the LORD also abandoned him and his life wasn’t the same again ( 1kings 15: 16-17 ; 2Chr. 16: 12). Beloved, the peace of God is available today, pursue it.
