Verse Of The Day : Now people were even bringing their babies to him for him to touch. But when the disciples saw it, they began to scold those who brought them. But Jesus called for the children, saying, “Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. – Luke 18 : 15 – 16 (NET)
LISTEN : Children are defenseless without parents, caregivers, or well meaning citizens of the society. They’re easily attacked and traumatised by those stronger than they are, hence they always need someone to rise in their defense as Jesus Christ did when his disciples moved to stop children from coming to him. However, children are not the only ones that needs defense. There’re countless people out there who’re in desperate need of someone who can rise in their defense.
Jesus Christ rose in defense of named and unnamed people of the society in his days. The bible recorded instances where Christ rose in defense of the defenseless – the woman that was accused of adultery (John 8:3-11), the children of today’s bible text(Luke 18:15-16), people of Samaria who treated him with disrespect (Luke 9:51-54); unconditional forgiveness and salvation for the human race (Romans 5:8), etc. Beloved, is there someone you should rise in his or her defense? Someone who has been often mistreated, mocked, blackmailed, or whose right has been denied? Maybe someone among your peers, colleagues at your work place, schoolmates, family members, etc. Don’t allowed others suffer by reason of your silence. Ask the LORD to show you where you should rise in defense of others, and then do it as fast as possible.
Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Speak for the voiceless as you’re led by the Spirit of God.
2. Always rise in defense of those who’re defenseless.
3. In defending others, act in wisdom and pray for God’s guidance.
4. Don’t keep silent when your silence will produce the hurt and destruction of others.
Daily Task : Defend the defenseless when you can, but where you’re not able, ask God to help you seek the help of others.
Daily Reflection : We become the mouth and hands of God in the earth when we rise in defense of the defenseless.
Prayer : Precious Father, make me a vessel for the defense of the defenseless, humiliated and hurting. May I always stand to bring succor to them in Jesus ‘ name, amen.
Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, you will not fail to be a vessel in the hands of God for the defenseless, humiliated and hurting. As you serve others, God will cause others to serve you in Jesus ‘ name.
