THE UPRIGHT WILL FLOURISH

Wednesday August 10, 2016.

Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day :The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.- Proverbs 14 : 11

LISTEN : The wicked and the upright have different destinies. The wicked is destined for destruction, while the upright is destined to flourish. To flourish is to grow well ; to be healthy, to be very successful : to do very well. It is to increase and enlarge: it is to increase in wealth, honour, comfort, happiness, or whatever is desirable.

One may argue that the wicked of this world prospers in wealth, fame, popularity and influence more than the upright; but that’s an argument from a carnal and sensual mind. Those who’re ungodly and wicked never acquire sustainable wealth, fame, influence, etc because the curse of God is upon their lives (Proverbs 3:33). Besides, their so-called “prosperity” often become their journey to doom (Psalms 73: 2-22). To appreciate what this lesson is, let’s find out what it means to be wicked. It means to be evil in principle or practice; it is to deviate from morality; to act contrary to the moral or divine law; to be addicted to vice or sin; it is to be sinful and immoral.

The wicked may amass wealth and build houses to perpetuate their names and eternize their memory; but no matter how strong and firm, yet by one accident or another all shall come to ruin. When they imagined they would continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations, their ruin will come (Ps 49:11); or their families shall become extinct, none to be their heirs and inherit their estates, and transmit their name to posterity; or the substance of their house, their riches and wealth, especially that ill-gotten wealth. But God will establish the house of the upright.
