Verse Of The Day: – Who without reason for hope, in faith went on hoping, so that he became the father of a number of nations, as it had been said, So will your seed be. Romans 4: 18(BBE)

LISTEN: Do you know the man from the land of Ur of the Chaldees? Brother to Nahor and Haran? The son of Terah? Husband to Sarah the barren? Father of Isaac? The man of faith whose descendants obtained the promised land? Who without reason for hope, in faith went on hoping? The man with uncommon profile? His name is Abraham.
When God called Abraham from his land to the place of promise, he left the land as Abram – father of a multitude, but God made his name to be Abraham – father of many nations (Genesis 17:5). He obeyed the voice of God even when there was reason to believe that the promise may not come true. For twenty five years, Abraham and Sarah his wife were childless; but that couldn’t stop him from believing. The startling thing here is that when the wife (Sarah) had entered menopause, Abraham refused to disbelief God, but decided to hope against hope.

To hope against hope is to faithfully believe the promises of God even when there is no usual ground for hope. God had given a promise to Abraham earlier, that his posterity would be like the stars of heaven in multitude, and like the dust of the earth (Genesis 15:5); so this formed the bases of his faith even when Sarah’s womb was dead, because he counted God worthy (Rom. 4:21).
Beloved, what are you going through today? Perhaps it could be sickness, afflictions, Joblessness, rejection from loved ones, emotional trauma, pains from divorce, hardship, loss of job or childlessness like father Abraham; simply do what Abraham did – Hope against hope. Remember, God can defy natural laws just to bless you. Keep believing, don’t give up on your life.

Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Keep trusting God for your miracle no matter what.
2. Don’t judge yourself by natural laws, but by God’s word.
3. Don’t give up on life, wait patiently for God’s intervention.
4. Learn from Abraham’s faith and obedience to God.

Daily Task
Wake up every morning and speak to any situation in your life that seems hopeless for the period of one month, and then be ready to celebrate your change.
