ARE YOU A CHURCH ATTENDER, OR A CHURCH MEMBER?

Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day: He answered and said unto them, Well has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.- Mark 7 : 6 (UKJV).

LISTEN: In Jesus Christ’s encounter with the Pharisees, he publicly called them hypocrites because of their double standard worship to God. The service they rendered to God wasn’t a sincere service from their hearts. In the worship of God the Pharisees put on a false appearance of virtues or religion. They act in contradiction to their stated belief. Today, There’re lots of hypocritical christians in the church? People who pretend their faith in Christ; those who cannot endure persecutions and afflictions for him: those who profess to accept the word of Christ but do not believe and live out what the gospel stands for.

God is looking for sincere worshippers, people who’re not just only attending church but committed to it. The difference between a church attender and a church member is this, a church member is committed to the church but an attender is not. A church attender is a receiver but a church member is a giver, a church attender want only benefits without sharing in responsibilities; church attenders are not interested in fellowship but church members are.

Beloved, what are you in the church of God? A church attender, or a church member? Determine to be a church member not a church attender.

Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Be a committed church member.
2. Don’t go to church for personal gains, go to church to serve God.
3. Take up responsibility in the church don’t be a spectator.

Daily Task : Don’t go to church just to attend, go to church to worship because you’re a Christian.

Daily Reflection : He who profess to worship God but denies the power thereof is only wallowing in self-deception

Prayer : LORD God! Help me to serve you faithfully through the church, the body of Christ in Jesus ‘ name, amen.

Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy upon your life, grace to worship God in spirit and in truth in Jesus ‘ name.
