Verse Of The Day : It is an honour for a man to keep from fighting, but the foolish are ever at war.- Proverbs 20:3 (BBE).
LISTEN : Most people don’t know that it’s an honour to stay out of trouble and to live in peace with one another. They failed to realise that, meddling with other people’s affairs unreasonably isn’t in their best interest. Honourable people don’t look for trouble nor create one themselves, rather they solve problems created by others because they’re ambassadors of peace. They quite understand and appreciate the instructions from God’s word that says, “The one who is slow to anger has great understanding, but the one who has a quick temper exalts folly.” (Proverbs 14 : 29). The society is the way it’s today because virtually everyone is engaged in fighting over one thing or the other. In our present society and the world at large, there’s continuous fight over family and community titles and positions; marriage, finance, lands, relationship, business, oil and gas control, cult supremacy, political offices, governance, church leadership, etc. The question we should ask ourselves is, can we make a good society that we dreams of when everyone seem to be comfortable and happy fighting, maiming and killing ourselves? Are we not using our hands to destroy our future by destroying one another?
Beloved, there’s no honour or integrity in enjoying trouble and fight. In fight, energy and time are wasted, peace is stolen, reputation is marred, sometimes lives are lost in the process, and many other negative things that can happen as a result of that. Beloved, what are you fighting over? Remember, “It is an honour for a man to keep from fighting.” Staying away from trouble is not a mark of cowardice or weakness, but a demonstration of wisdom and self-control. However, this way of life sounds so strange to a fool; for he is a stranger to honour and decorum. Let’s cease henceforth to be at war with one another, for it’s a show of shame; because “the foolish are ever at war.” Let’s preach peace, pursue peace and accept peace.
