Verse Of The Day : To subvert a man in his cause, the LORD approves not.
Who is he that says, and it comes to pass, when the Lord commands it not?- Lamentations 3:36-37.
LISTEN : Fairness in administration of justice and our dealings with others is fast disappearing in today’s society. The rights of the poor, unpopular and unfamous people are denied because justice is now given and bought for money. This is the reason why evil is almost generally applauded and wicked men celebrated. Evil seems not to be seen as evil anymore, instead, the innocent and ‘righteous’ are hated and punished for their uprightness and integrity (Isaiah 59 : 15). What a world! Righteousness, fairness, integrity and other virtues are seen today as “old fashion”. But how far can we go with wickedness? Or, do you not know that there’s no peace for the wicked? (Isaiah 57:21). Do you think that you can commit all manners of evils and get away with them? Have you forgotten that there’s a God in heaven watching all your actions? Do you realise that if you’re fair to others the society can be a better place for everyone? What legacy do you want to keep for yourself? A legacy of fairness to all, or of victimisation to the poor, unpopular and unfamous?
Beloved, what exactly is God saying about our conducts towards others? Our text of the day said, ” To subvert a man in his cause, the LORD approves not.”(Lamentations 3 : 36). What does it mean to subvert in this context? It means to pervert, as the mind, and turn it from the truth; it equally means to corrupt. God is saying, I (God) does not approved of denying anyone of justice or fairness for any reason whatsoever. Today, many has turned their hearts from the truth. They’re so corrupt that if you have nothing to give for justice you’ll be robbed and denied of it. Unfortunately, most times it doesn’t work as we schemed them. God can oppose to our schemes against the helpless. The bible said, ” Who is he that says, and it comes to pass, when the Lord commands it not? (Lamentations 3 : 37). You may deny someone of his or her rights, but you can’t conclude his or her life. Always remember that God has the final say, not you. So be fair to all if you want others to be fair to you and your’s.
Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Don’t deny anyone of his or her rights because they’re helpless or poor, rather do the right thing as God’s instrument of justice to mankind.
2. Resist the temptation to take bribe and pervert justice because it is an invitation to do the wrong thing and to end the wrong way.
3. Speak out and discourage injustice and unfairness where necessary.
4. Determine to stand for fairness and justice no matter what.
Daily Task : Keep a legacy of justice and fairness to all, not of victimisation to the poor, unpopular and unfamous.
Daily Reflection : Evil seems not to be seen as evil anymore, instead, the innocent and ‘righteous’ are hated and punished for their uprightness and integrity, Why?
Prayer : LORD God, make me an instrument of justice and fairness in the corrupt society and system in Jesus ‘ name, amen.
Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, nothing will derail you from God’s original purpose for your life. You’ll stand as instrument of goodness in God’s hands in Jesus ‘name, amen.
