WHAT A LOST OF FOCUS!

Verse Of The Day : Her leaders judge for reward, her priests teach only when they’re paid , and her prophets prophesy for cash. Even so, don’t they all rely on the LORD as they ask, ‘The LORD is among us, is he not? Nothing bad can possibly happen to us!- Micah 3 : 11

LISTEN : Have we lost focus of our calling and responsibilities? Does it mean that we no longer realise the things which our calling and appointment stipulates? Are we interested only on ‘rights and titles’ and not on responsibilities? Have we not lost focus and appear miserable as a result? What life could be more miserable than a life without focus? The spiritual and secular leaders of the Israelites in Prophet Micah’s days abandoned the ways of their God and followed wicked ways. They pursued material and financial gains instead of following the righteous will of God. The rights of those who couldn’t comply with their inordinate and fraudulent demands were mischievously denied. Their lifestyles were so ungodly and full of lost of focus when Prophet Micah testified, ” Her leaders judge for reward, her priests teach only when they’re paid , and her prophets prophesy for cash.” (Micah 3 : 11 ; Jeremiah 6 : 13 ; Jude 1 : 11 ). Upon that they still claimed that the LORD was with them when he wasn’t (v.11b).

This case of the Israelites is not different from what is happening in today’s society and the church community. Like the leaders in question, have we not lost focus of our calling, appointments and responsibilities? When a pastor or minister of God who’s ordained to take care of the flock of God, shamelessly indulge himself in sleeping with members of the church and serving just for personal gains, has such a pastor not lost focus? When a police officer who’s hired to maintain law and order and to protect lives and property goes on to sponsor disorder, intimidate innocent people and engages in extortion, isn’t that a lost of focus? When a community chief who’s coronated to oversee the welfare of his people has abandoned that to make war with his people instead of being a blessing to them, isn’t that a lost of focus? When people in authority or public office holders who had sworn to serve with integrity choose to defraud the public of their funds and negatively affect standard of living, isn’t that a lost of focus? If the purpose why we become what we are is abandoned, isn’t that a lost of focus? When a pastor left preparing his members for the kingdom of God to preparing them as members of a mega church, isn’t that a lost of focus? The list goes on and on. May God redirect our focus to its original purpose.

Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Determine to serve selflessly and sacrificially to the glory of God.
2. Don’t abandon your calling or divine purpose for selfish gains.
3. Don’t allow your quest for money blind your eyes to the need for justice and fairness.
4. Be a crusader for goodness, justice, fairness, faithfulness, kindness and love for God and others.

Daily Task : Don’t be interested only on ‘rights and titles’ and not on responsibilities, it’s a lost of focus and state of miserableness. What life could be more miserable than a life without focus?

Daily Reflection : When focus is lost in life, everything and everyone catches one’s attention.

Prayer : Blessed Father, I thank you for your word today, guide me to be focused in my life till the very end in Jesus ‘ name, amen.

Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, you’ll not lose focus. May God guide you through your journey of life in Jesus ‘ name, amen.
