Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.- Obadiah 1 : 17

LISTEN : I believe you might be wondering what this title,’possessing your possessions’is all about? In this context, your possession is something that you own or possess. It’s something that belongs to you. As one living in poverty presently, you might argue that you hardly feed, how can you possibly have possessions? Your argument though, sounds convincing but it’s absolutely incorrect. God has a better plan for you but until you grow up in your believe system and especially, in your moral principles and obedience to God, you’re likely to remain in your precarious and pitiable conditions. The bible has an encouraging word for you, and to challenge you to action; and it says, ” Now what I am saying is this: As long as an heir is a child, he is no better off than a slave, even though he owns everything.” (Galatians 4 : 1). Beloved, you hinder yourself from God’s blessings and favour when you choose to remain a ‘child’. Remember, children would always do what their parents will warn them against, as a result, their parents would often deny them of their rights and privileges at some points because of their rebellion and disobedience to teach them morals and discipline .

Beloved, the same thing applies in our relationship with God. When you willfully disobey God, you limit yourself. Like the heir(one who inherits or is entitled to inherit property) in Galatians 4 : 1, when you refuse to ‘grow’, you’ll remain a stranger to your God-given possessions. The children of Israel abandoned their God in favour of pagan gods, therefore, God also abandoned them and caused them to be carried away to Babylon as captives. They forfeited their good land, the land of Canaan, and served as slaves in a strange land for seventy years, because they chose to not grow up morally and spiritually. However, when they repented of their rebellion, God reassured them of his deliverance and prosperity. Because God can’t change his standard of holiness he said, ” But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. Beloved, are you prepared to possess your God-given possessions? Are you ready to live in the realm God originally made for you? Then learn to maintain a good and sustained relationship with him, and watch him bless your labour in life.

Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Always remember that success can only be attain by doing the needful and doing it right.
2. Don’t be ignorant of what you have in God, for ignorance will certainly keep you from your God-given possessions
3. Establish a relationship with God and determine to commit to its growth.
4. Don’t limit yourself through reckless actions and thoughtless decisions, rather surrender to God’s guidance and directives.

Daily Task : Learn to maintain a good and sustained relationship with God, and watch him bless the works of your hand.

Daily Reflection : You hinder yourself from God’s blessings and favour when you choose to remain a ‘child’. When you willfully disobey God, you limit yourself; and will remain a stranger to your God-given possessions.

Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, whatever that’s limiting you from possessing your God-given possessions is destroyed henceforth. Go and possess your possessions in Jesus’ name, amen.
