Verse Of The Day : You shall arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, has come.- Psalms 102 : 13

LISTEN : God’s mercy precede his favour. No rational person can ask for a favour from an enemy except he or she has made peace and reconciled with him. It’s only when reconciliation has been achieved that one can be bold enough to ask for favour where necessary. Imagine yourself being deeply hurt by someone, and hours later the same person returned to ask for a favour instead of forgiveness, how will you feel? Or what will you do? I know you’ll feel extremely bad and angered. And sometimes you’ll want to unleash your unrestrained wrath on him. In the same way, you don’t expect to receive God’s favour without first receiving his mercy and forgiveness. The Israelites continuously sinned and rebelled against God after countless warning from His prophets to them. Therefore, God sent them on exile to Babylon and were there for seventy years and served their captors. However, when they asked for the LORD’S forgiveness and mercy he heard, and subsequently delivered them.

In recognition of their own iniquities and God’s power to forgive, the Psalmist said, “You shall arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, has come.”(Psalms 102 : 13). Similarly, when we acknowledge our sins and unfaithfulness to God, by humbling ourselves at the footstool of mercy, and earnestly pray for mercy, an answer of peace will be given. When we sincerely seek mercy, because God is a compassionate and merciful God, he will certainly bless us with deliverance. (Psalms 7:6; 44:26 ; 69:35). God is ever mindful of his promises. When the Israelites repented of their sins and sought his help, he assured them that the time of deliverance was near. The set time-the seventy years predicted by Jeremiah, was ended; because He was mindful of his promises He followed it through. Beloved, is there anything you’re yet to reconcile with God? Are there some areas of your life that the Spirit of God has been ministering to you to make amends? Something in your life that God is hitherto frowning at? I want you to realise that God wants to favour you, but that will be after you have obtained His mercy and pardon. Why not acknowledge your misdid today and receive His mercies and forgiveness? God bless you.

Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Don’t disceive yourself to seek God’s favour when you haven’t received his pardon, for he that must ask his favour must first secure his mercy and forgiveness.
2. Don’t allow the weight of your misdid keep you from asking the Lord’s mercy, pray and you’ll receive His pardon.
3. Pray daily for personal and familial deliverance from the power holding you prisoner, and continue to seek God’s presence in all circumstances.

Daily Task: Whatever misdid of yours that God draws your attention to, don’t ignore it. Strive to make amends so that you don’t lock yourself out of His favour.

Daily Reflection : It’s a waste of time and self deception to think that one can expect God’s favour without first receiving His pardon and mercy.

Prayer : Almighty God, I acknowledge my sins and my need for mercy, have mercy on me and command deliverance for me in Jesus ‘ name, amen.

Prophetic Word : Today, by the reason of the anointing in the Almighty name of Jesus Christ, I prophesy over your life, any power, human or satanic, holding you captive, I command their grip on you destroyed in Jesus ‘ name.
