Verse Of The Day : I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.- Philippians 4 : 13

LISTEN : Apostle Paul is known for his revelational knowledge and insights amongst other things. He was fit for the kingdom assignments because he learned to adapt to all circumstances. No doubt, he couldn’t have achieved that without the help of the Spirit of God. Having written of the great things he had learned, that it might not be attributed to his proud conceit, or give occasion to vain boast, he attributed all his abilities to the power of God. He chose to rest solely for power upon Christ than his human strength. He said, “ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” We are not to understand it absolutely, but restrictively to the subject matter he had before mentioned in the precedent verses (vv.11,,12), saying he could by the Lord’s help use well both prosperity and adversity: or, all those things the Lord called him to and put him upon. He asserted that by faith and being in union with Christ, by the power of his Spirit dwelling in him, he can handle all situations. He admitted that this uncommon strength and ability was not by any power he had of himself, but through Christ.

From the experience which Paul had in these various circumstances of life, he comes to the general conclusion that he could “do all things.” He could bear any trial, perform any duty, subdue any evil propensity of his nature, and meet all the temptations incident to any condition of prosperity or adversity. His own experience in the various changes of life had warranted him in arriving at this conclusion; and he now expresses the firm confidence that nothing would be required of him which he would not be able to perform. Beloved, the same thing applies to us. We the children of God can do nothing without the supernatural help of Christ in the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ said, “Apart from me you can do nothing.”(John 15 : 5b). Like Apostle Paul, we can partake of the strength which Christ can impart and can equally share in such wonderful abundant experience as we anchor our trust on the LORD.
