Verse Of The Day : And the LORD shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath; if that you hearken unto the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do them:- Deuteronomy 28 : 13.

LISTEN : What is the word enviable? It’s something causing envy : something very desirable; something worth having, seeking, or achieving. Then what does it mean to be enviable? It means to be desirable; it’s to be an object of everyone’s desire. Enviable things are so desirable that everybody wants them. In today’s world, A high-paying job is enviable. A vacation in any of the best countries of the world is enviable. Being exceptionally excellent in ones career or vocation is enviable. Anytime someone does something impressive or buys something very good, it’s likely to be described with the word enviable. The list goes on and on. God’s promised blessings to the Israelites and to us by extension includes being enviable. The bible says, “And the LORD shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath; if that you hearken unto the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do them.”(Deuteronomy 28 : 13).

Prophet Moses rehearsed before the Israelites God’s covenant promise to them. God promises to give them dominion over others, and not make them subject to them; the head in this context signifies rulers and governors, and the tail the common people that are subjects; the head equally symbolise to be honourable and in high esteem, while the tail is to be mean and base. The bible continued, “And you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath.” This explains what is meant by head and tail, being uppermost and lowermost, as the head is the upper part, and the tail the lower part of a creature; the one is more honourable, the other vile: the sense is, that they (the Israelites) should be superior to other people in honour and dignity, and not below them. These wonderful promises are not only for the Israelites alone, but to Christ’s faithfuls worldwide.(Galatians 3 : 9 – 29). However, this promised blessing and enviableness is dependent on their/our willingness to absolutely obey the commandments of the LORD. The bible says, “If only you will hearken to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day to observe and to do them;” This is the condition on which all this happiness depended. May we unreservedly surrender to God and receive all the promises he has faithfully made to us in Jesus’ name.

Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Always obey God, because obedience to God brings grace; and grace will take you to where efforts and labour can’t take you to.
2. Remember that obedience to God doesn’t exclude anyone from diligent hard work, rather it blesses hard work and impart success.
3. Position yourself in the hands of God through obedience, faithfulness, commitment, etc, and be made enviable in due time.
4. Don’t be tempted to be in enmity with God, because those who’re at war with Him can’t live to tell the story.

Daily Task : Always remember that God’s desire for his children (we) is to make them enviable among others, hence he commanded us to keep his word and be bless.

Daily Reflection : No faithful follower of God can be miserable, miserableness follows those who feels too big to submit to God: if they don’t experience it now, they’ll certainly experience it later. Beware!

Prayer : Precious Father, I thank you for your promises to me, help me to faithfully follow your will and obey your word in Jesus’ name, amen.

Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, God will enable you to obey Him and receive His promises in return. Henceforth, you’ll be the head and not the tail; you’ll be above only, and not below in Jesus’name.
