Verse Of The Day : Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law does he meditate day and night.- Psalms 1 : 1 , 2

LISTEN : The blessings of God travels in the direction of the godly. Who is the godly? One may ask! I believe you might be wondering right now who he or she really is. Do I qualify? One may also ask! Thankfully, God is the Judge here and can qualify those that the world has written off, but who choose to anchor their hope and trust in the living God. God knows the godly and he’s interested in blessing them. But who is the godly? The godly is one who has great reverence for God; one with a religious character; pious; and devoted: one who’s deeply concerned with God and the beliefs and practice of religion. God wants you to be godly, because he desires to bless you. Godliness attracts the favour of God. God’s blessings travels in the direction of godliness; just like every good parent will not hesitate to bless his or her obedient child, and an employer his obedient and hardworking employees; so also is God eager to bless the godly. Beloved, are you godly? Are you truly godly as a child of God? Obviously, to be a godly person, we must first consider the biblical definition of the word godly. In 1 Timothy 2:2, Paul uses the word in conjunction with being “peaceful,” “quiet,” and “dignified.” The Bible stated categorically that, the Spirit, who’s in every believer, produces visible and invisible acts of godliness, “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness” ( See Galatians 5:22).

In plain terms, the bible defines godliness as “Christlikeness.” Godliness involves a genuine striving to imitate Christ, to be like Him in thought and action as the apostle Paul strived to be ( See 1 Corinthians 11:1). These characteristics of a godly disposition apply to every believer, irrespective of gender, race, or status. God wants us to be godly and to represent him in a world overwhelmed with ungodliness and all manners of wickedness. Beloved, godliness is not a title, nor an award given to a long serving christian, but a state of conscious effort to live in the fear and knowledge of God. In our text of the day, the bible stated clearly what the godly do and things he or she doesn’t do: he doesn’t consider ungodly counsel, advice, or suggestions from the wicked as an option. He rejects vehemently every counsel that won’t glorify God no matter who gives it. A godly person doesn’t align with the wicked no matter what. It doesn’t matter what he or she stand to gain or lose he’s not willing to compromise his integrity. The delight of the godly is in doing the will of God, meditating on his word, and living his or her life totally to the will of God. Beloved, just to remind you in case you’ve forgotten, it’s not a waste of time and resources to serve and revere God. Remember, God blesses the godly.
