Verse Of The Day : Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven – only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.- Matthew 7 : 21 (UKJV ).

LISTEN : Are you a pretentious christian? A christian who denies Christ by the way he or she lives and act? The word pretentious means, to be characterized by pretension: expressive of unwarranted, or exaggerated importance, or worth: it’s to act as if something is true when it is not true; to give a false appearance of being, possessing, or performing. Beloved, pretence in your worship to God is the height of self-deception. Self-deception is the worst of deceit anyone can receive in this life. It’s somewhat explanatory and pardonable if one is deceived by another; but foolish and pitiable when one deceives himself. One may ask, is it possible to deceive oneself? Of course it’s very possible! When you live a pretentious life, you’re doing nothing but deceiving yourself. That’s, you’ve been living your life on falsehood and inconsistent with your belief. You’re not what you claims you are. It’s even worst when this pretentious lifestyle is exhibited by God’s very elects (Christians). What a pity, when we gather in the church but our lifestyles doesn’t reflect our claims – ‘Christlikeness’! We claim to serve God but denies the reality of our christian faith.

When children of God who hears the word of God at all times fails to live in line with His word, it’s very disheartening and regrettable. Beloved, lest you forget, remember that God is quite aware of what you do. In our verse of the day the bible said, ” Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven – only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.(Matthew 7 : 21). I want you to know that God doesn’t play favourite, whatever you sow that’s what you’ll reap (Galatians 6 : 7). Given the words of Jesus Christ in our bible verse of the day, pretentious christians have no part in God. Those who call on the name of the Lord but not with a pure heart and motives have no lasting relationship or future with God (1 Corinthians 15 : 19). Beloved, are you serious about your christian life? Are you really serious about following Christ? Are you not one of the pretentious christians of the day? Those whose lives are filled with lies and heresies? Henceforth, drop every form of pretence in your worship to God and determine to worship God in spirit and in truth. Remember what Jesus Christ said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven – only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” Beloved, run after the will of God and you won’t regret in the end of your life.

Having read today’s devotional, what are you expected to do?
1. Don’t ever serve God in pretence because you’ll be the one to lose and regret in the end.
2. Always remember that not everyone who profess to know God will be saved in the end; so worship God faithfully and determine not to end your life in hell.
3. Avoid self-deception in your walk with God, because that’s the height of foolishness and ignorance.

Daily Task : Drop every form of pretence in your worship to God and determine to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Remember, Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven – only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.”

Daily Reflection : Self-deception is the worst of deceit anyone can give to himself. It’s somewhat explanatory and pardonable if one is deceived by another; but foolish and pitiable when one deceives himself.

Prayer : Almighty God, I acknowledge your word for me today, give me the strength and grace necessary to overcome self-deception in my life in Jesus ‘ name, amen.

Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, every spirit of deception, destruction and hypocrisy that characterises your christian life is losing their grips on you today, in Jesus ‘name.
