Verse Of The Day : Chasten your son while there is hope, and let not your soul spare for his crying.- Proverbs 19 : 18

LISTEN : Everyone enjoys to be pampered. This is because pampering gives us virtually everything that we want from those pampering us. However, we must draw the line between love and careless pampering when our children are involved. Pampering is good for children, but when they’re unnecessarily pampered, it will someday certainly hurt both them and their parents. What exactly is pampering? It means to treat with excessive indulgence: to treat with extreme or excessive care and attention; it’s to give someone special treatment, making that person as comfortable as possible and giving him or her whatever he or she want. Children enjoys to be treated in such manner by their parents or caregivers. Unfortunately, most parents because of ‘love’ so-called, indulge their children in all manners of unhealthy lifestyles in the name of love, to their own hurt. In today’s society, most parents are no longer paying attention to the ways of their children. They give them [children] everything they want and finds it difficult to deny them anything. I call this “dangerous pampering”. Dangerous, in the sense that, they [parents] are unknowingly sacrificing their children’ future at the altar of today through some careless and thoughtless attitudes in the name of love. When children are unnecessarily pampered, the aspect of child discipline will be grossly neglected; and this will mean a huge trouble for our children, the society and future generations.

It’s a shame to us parents to think that we’re expressing love to our children without carefully finding out whether what we’re doing will be to their advantages or disadvantages. A greater percentage of the cause of societal moral decadence could be traceable to parental indulgence. When parents fail in their responsibilities to their children the society will suffer. Beloved, it’s your responsibility as a parent to ensure that your child or children as the case may be receives the right amount of discipline. Don’t forget that discipline is part of love. Even God administers same to His children. When you don’t discipline your kids where necessary, you’re clearly and ignorantly demonstrating hate towards them. In Hebrews 12 : 7 – 11 the bible says, ” For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he punishes every son he accepts.” What you endure disciplines you…Is there a son whom his father does not discipline?
Now if you are without any discipline, in which all sons share, then you are illegitimate and not God’s sons. Furthermore, we had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them for it. We should submit even more to the Father of our spirits and live, shouldn’t we? For a short time they disciplined us as they thought best…No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, for those who have been trained by it, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace.” Beloved, just as God disciplines the one He loves, so should you discipline your kids if you really love them. Do it when there’s still hope, because if you ignore it; you’ll certainly regret your thoughtless decisions and negligence. Remember, unrestrained children are often the means of their parents and family’s miseries and calamities; so restrain your children where necessary and avert avoidable misfortunes.
