Verse Of The Day : Jesus said to her, Did I not say to you that if you had faith you would see the glory of God?- John 11 : 40 (BBE).

LISTEN : God is not man, neither His ways our ways nor His thoughts our thoughts. The ways and thoughts of God will always run contrary to that of man. However, God designed a way through which sinful man can reach Him – that’s through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. God designed faith to be a channel through which we can ask and receive from Him through the name of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 11 : 6 stated categorically the importance of faith to our relationship with God in this wise: “Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently search for him.” Beloved, faithlessness is an insult to God’s sovereignty. God can never be connected to anyone who’s disconnected from faith. Until issue of faith is settled, nothing is settled in your relationship with God. Why is it so? It’s so because, we accept Christ by faith, prays to Him by faith, believes by faith, receives by faith and do all by faith. There’s no aspect of our relationship with God that doesn’t have anything to do with faith. Today’s devotional verse is a story about Mary’s encounter with Jesus Christ, her brother Lazarus had just died and was buried since four days before she met Jesus Christ. Jesus had been a family friend, as a result, they sent for him to come to their home town Bethany to heal his friend Lazarus, but he delayed to come for few days and Lazarus eventually died. When Mary heard that he [Jesus] had come as requested, she hurriedly left to meet him.

Immediately she saw him, she lamented; and the bible says, “As soon as Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell down at his feet and told him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.”(John 11 : 32). Notice that Mary believed that Jesus Christ would have saved her brother Lazarus if he had arrived much earlier. Obviously, her faith in Jesus Christ was okay, but was equally limiting her. She was believing Christ [God] for the past, not for the present. She was limiting the power of God to her level of reasoning. To her, there’re circumstances too big for God to handle. She believed that the situation would have been remedied if her brother was only sick and not dead. However, Jesus Christ opened her eyes to who He really is – The Resurrection and The life (John 11 : 25); and challenged her to have faith if she must see the power of God. When Jesus Christ told her that her brother Lazarus was going to live again, she believed he was going to live on the resurrection. But Jesus Christ once more challenged her faith and said, “…Did I not say to you that if you had faith you would see the glory of God? (John 11 : 40). She eventually believed and saw the glory of God and received her brother from the dead. Beloved, what situation are you going through today? Are you afflicted, or in some form of trouble? Does your situation seem hopeless and impossible to handle? Don’t worry! Just put your faith to work. Remember, it’s not yet over; if you believe you’ll see the glory of God manifest in your situation.
