Verse Of The Day : And I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And all of you shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that has dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. Joel 2 : 25- 26 (UKJV).
LISTEN : No one can gather what God has scattered; and still, no one can scatter what God has gathered. It is not God’s purpose to scatter our lives and the works of our hands, but the presence of sin in our lives has made it inevitable to attract such mayhem and curse to ourselves. No matter how great and successful an individual or a nation might be, it will not take God anything to reduce them to nothing if he so desire. We are living and becoming successful just by his grace. The children of Israel abandoned their God, the Almighty God in favour of pagan gods, God brought disaster upon them, that even their city of pride – Jerusalem was reduced to rubble. Not only that, their economic, social and political life was hampered. Sadly, farmers could not succeed in their farming activities, business people regrettably lost their various capital and businesses, plague and horrible circumstances visited the people for their disobedience. However, when they cried to God for mercy, he heard them and assured them of restoration. Restoration is the act or process of returning something to its original condition by repairing it, cleaning it, etc. God promised to repair the damage sin has caused them/us. He asked Prophet Joel to declare his message of hope to the children of Israel in this wise : “And I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And all of you shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that has dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.” (Joel 2 : 25- 26).
In spite of their numerous sins, God decided to show mercy and took away their reproaches after punishing them for their sins for a prolonged period. Today, like Prophet Joel, I come with a message of hope and joy from the LORD, you have come to the season of divine restoration in Jesus’ name. You may have suffered from what God has permitted in your life because of your disobedience, but as you return to him today with the whole of your heart and with sorrow for your misdeeds, his grace will activate divine restoration for you this season. God’s word is clear, “I [God] will restore your wasted years.” Beloved, no matter the degree of damage in your life God will restore to you his goodness. No matter the period and kind of damage and destruction, God will restore. No matter the number of years affected by the destruction, God will restore. Because God is restoring to you the years you have lost to disasters, emptiness will be replaced with abundance, hunger will be replaced with satisfaction, shame will be replaced with glory, weeping will be replaced with laughter, sorrows will be replaced with joy (Psalms 30 : 5), poverty will be replaced with riches, etc. However, the purpose of this glorious restoration of your wasted years is to bring glory to his name. God is not only interested in giving you restoration, but that you return all praises to him and worship him as the only God. Beloved, when God has perfected your restoration, do not forget to praise and serve him. God said in verse 26 of Joel 2, ” And all of you shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that has dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.” May you not forget to praise the LORD in Jesus’ name.
