Verse Of The Day : Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. We love him, because he first loved us.- 1 John 4 : 10, 19.

LISTEN : Love is like a magnet, it will always attract its kind. When two people who are in love come in contact with each other, their feelings will certainly acknowledge it. Their behaviour towards each other is the evidence of their love. The truth about love is that someone must initiate it. In this regard, God is the one that initiated it. Our verse of the day said, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us.” Are you wondering why we [Christians] love God, it is just because he loved us first and still loves us. When we did not acknowledge or revere Him as LORD and owner of our lives He still loves us. When we chose to obey and follow the will of the devil He still love us the same. His love for us is unconditional and unspeakable. The bible book of Romans puts it this way, “But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.(Romans 5 : 8). The beauty of the love of God is that He loves us in spite of our sins and unfaithfulness. That is real love. He gave His Son Jesus Christ to be the propitiation (an atoning sacrifice) for our sins. By Christ’s perfect sacrifice, God’s wrath on us was assuaged. Today, we have gain or regain His favour or goodwill which we once lost through sin.

Through Christ’s perfect sacrifice God is perfectly appeased. What a compassionate God! What a wonderful love! Beloved, can you now see why we love Him? We love Him, because he first loved us. If He loves us, are we not supposed to reciprocate His love? Are we not supposed to show through our lives that He has done great a thing for us through the sacrificial death of Christ? Of course we should! Because of His love, nothing can be too big to do for Him; and nothing can be too much to give to Him. Our time, talents and treasures should be use to serve Him. We should learn to be generous with our time, our God-given talents and all our possessions. Our love for God should cause us to support programmes and projects designed to advance God’s kingdom on earth. We should gladly invest our time, talents and money on things that will promote God’s agenda on earth and bring glory to His name. Beloved, what is your level of love for God? How committed are you to Him? If you are a christian, how dedicated are you to Him? How useful are you in supporting programmes and projects in your local church and the society at large? Do you know that God loves you? And that you need to reciprocate His love? As you serve Him today, serve Him with your whole heart, withholding nothing. God bless you.
