Verse Of The Day : Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.-2 Corinthians 9 : 15

LISTEN : Words are not enough to describe God’s gift to man. No picture is good or beautiful enough to depict the wonderful gift of God. Human imagination cannot accurately conceive the gift of God to us either. In spite of our sins and unfaithfulness, God still showered us with His love gift. I know by now you might be wondering what this gift of God is all about, right? This gift of God to us is Jesus Christ and His good works in our regenerated hearts. You may equally ask, “Who is Jesus Christ? Did He ever exist? Is He the Son of God or just one of the prophets? Does the bible have account of His descent? Where is He now? Should I accept Him as my Lord and Saviour? These are important questions that we must answer shortly.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God Almighty, the living God. God attested to this fact both at His baptism and the mount of transfiguration, hours before His arrest, trial and crucifixion. (Matthew 3 : 16 – 17; 17 : 1 – 5). The Holy Spirit of God equally revealed His identity to Peter, one of His disciples when Jesus Christ asked to know who they thought He was. (Matthew 16: 13 – 18). Truly, Jesus Christ actually existed as a renowned Prophet of His time, and no religion can dispute that fact. Though His claim as the Son of God was opposed to by many including the Pharisees in His days, because they lacked insights into the mysteries of God. (Deuteronomy 29 : 29 ). No one can understand the identity of Christ if God does not open his or her eyes. Rejecting Jesus Christ as the Son of God does not negate His claim as the Son of God.

The bible gives account of His birth by virgin Mary, as a proof that He originates with God. The bible says, “The angel came to her and said, “Greetings, favored one, the Lord is with you!” But she was greatly troubled by his words and began to wonder about the meaning of this greeting. So the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God! Listen: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end.” Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with a man?” The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called the Son of God. “And look, your relative Elizabeth has also become pregnant with a son in her old age – although she was called barren, she is now in her sixth month! For nothing will be impossible with God.” So Mary said, “Yes, I am a servant of the Lord; let this happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her (Luke 1 : 28 – 38). Beloved, Jesus Christ was born sinless by the will of God and given to the world as a gift of righteousness (Romans 5 : 17), through which we have peace with God and access to Him. He came from God, died for our sins, resurrected and ascended to heaven in glory. What a precious gift! However, those who reject Him now will be doomed forever. Beware!
