Verse of the Day: Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless his Holy name. Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all His benefits…and tender mercies.- Psalms 103 : 1 – 4
LISTEN: How quick we forgot to thank God for His mercies and goodness! We tend to count our misfortunes and miseries than we count our miracles and blessings. We humans have the propensity to forget God’s goodness in our lives because of selfishness and greed. We always expect more from God because we believe that He has not done enough for us. What an unfair treatment to the unspeakable goodness of God! In remembering the goodness and mercies of God to him, the Psalmist, David said, “Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless his Holy name. Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all His benefits…and tender mercies.”(Psalms 103:1 – 4). Beloved, should we not respond to the goodness and mercies of God with gratitude like David did? Should we neglect or forget to thank God? Of course not? Nothing should stop us from appreciating God for all benefits received.
Beloved, with your ‘tight schedule’ and busy life, incessant compliant and excuses, do you have time anymore to reflect on the goodness and mercies of God in your life?. Or have you allowed the challenges and trials of life dictate your mood and actions? No doubt, people unavoidably encounter challenging times, however, those negative moments and ordeals of our lives must not blind our eyes to the countless blessings of God in our lives. You may win the argument that you do not have any good reasons to thank God for, sadly, it is because you don’t know what God has done for you. Friends, there are many out there who are envious of you and wish that their lives would be like yours. Beloved, it is time to come out of such negative mindset. Why not begin to bless the LORD today for health, provisions, protection, life, etc.? To bless the Lord is more than just give praise to Him: it is to praise with affection and gratitude. This is what the living should do (Psalms 92:1). We will praise God if we consider his greatness, mercies and kindness. So begin today to praise God for all his goodness and mercies in your life and the lives of others. God bless you.
