Verse Of The Day : He that answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame unto him.- Proverbs 18 : 13

LISTEN :Nothing explains the presence and demonstration of folly in a person’s life like giving premature judgment on matters – deciding a matter before you hear it. There is no sense in giving your judgement before you hear the detail of a matter. It makes mockery of your sense of judgment. It will also put you on the defensive and make you feel unwise when the truth is uncovered. Sadly, many people out of sentiments or some forms of affiliations belong to this category of people. They answer or decide a matter before hearing it. Beloved, wise people do not behave in such manner, rather, they are extremely judicious with their answers and decisions. So you should learn to hear a matter before deciding on it. Do not be in a hurry to give your decisions on a matter when you do not have necessary or relevant information or evidence regarding it. Besides, people should not be judge based on hearsay. Hearsay is an instrument use by people whose interest is to malign others.

Many had been wounded and harmed by decisions taken based on hearsay. Most marriages had equally been dissolved by actions taken based on mere suspicions and hearsay. Similarly, countless wrong judgments and decisions had been made on grounds of hearsay. When you choose to decide on matters without carefully verifying the claims involved, when the truth is eventually unveiled you will appear foolish and pitiable before reasonable people. Beloved, be wise! Do not be misled by your emotions. Always look at matters objectively lest you make the greatest mistake of your life. (John 7 : 51). Obviously, those who neglect to be objective in their decisions will regrettably cause harm by their thoughtless actions. No doubt, you will not like anyone to decide on your matter without carefully hearing from you. Therefore, you should not do otherwise when others are involved. Do to others what you will like them do to you. (Matthew 7:12 ; Luke 6 : 31). Do nothing without proper guide by the word of God. Let God’s word fill your memory, heart and guide your words. Besides, let your words reflect the heart of God and His wisdom.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. You are expected to carefully investigate all matters, before you finally decide on them.
2. Do not judge anyone by hearsay, make your decisions based on reliable evidences.
3. Do not be critical of others, learn to hear everyone out, because the truth you seek might be with them.
4. Do not make your judgement based on emotions, rather be wise and objective.

Daily Task : Never give judgment on matters you are not conversant with the details, instead, ask questions to save yourself of avoidable embarrassment.

Daily Reflection : He who decides a matter without first hearing it will end up making himself an object of mockery and folly.

Prayer : Most High God, I thank you for your word today, I ask for grace to be clothed with wisdom and to guard against saying and doing the wrong thing in Jesus’ name, amen.

Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, may God release upon you uncommon wisdom to say and do the right thing in Jesus’ name.
