Verse Of The Day : Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”- Matthew 14 : 31 (NET).

LISTEN : When Jesus Christ had dismissed the crowd after hearing his word, he ordered his disciples to sail ahead of him to the other side. As they proceeded, they were hit by a great storm in the sea that their lives were threatened. Suddenly, Jesus appeared walking on the sea to save them. Their fear was intensified for they believed he was a ghost. But when Jesus replied that he was the one, one of them dare to meet him. Peter, a daring disciple of Jesus Christ was making a huge progress on the sea as he walked miraculously towards his master Jesus Christ on the water. Suddenly, he lost focus. He gave in to fear and threat to his life. He entertained doubt and immediately began to sink because his focus had gone off Christ and centered on challenge. However, before going critical on Peter, we should commend his initial courage. We should applaud his daring attitude. He did what his colleagues (other disciples) on board could not do. Although they all were in a critical situation on the sea, but he distinguished himself by taking a bold step of faith. The bible said, ” And straight away he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, till he had sent the people away. And after he had sent the people away, he went up into the mountain by himself for prayer: and when evening was come, he was there by himself. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, and was troubled by the waves: for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. And when they saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they gave cries of fear. But straight away Jesus said to them, Take heart; it is I, have no fear.

And Peter, answering, said to him, Lord, if it is you, give me the order to come to you on the water. And he said, Come. And Peter got out of the boat, and walking on the water, went to Jesus. But when he saw the wind he was in fear and, starting to go down, he gave a cry, saying, Help, Lord. And straight away Jesus put out his hand and took a grip of him, and said to him, O man of little faith, why were you in doubt?” (Matthew 14:22-31). Beloved, when others were greatly afraid as the disciple’s boat roam the sea, Peter demanded from Jesus Christ to allowed him walk on water to Him. What a daring attitude! What an act of faith! Sadly, his faith was shortlived, because he bothered himself about his challenges and lost sight of the power of God. Doubt and fear drowned his faith, as a result he began to sink. Beloved, the end of faith is the beginning of fear; and the end of fear is the beginning of faith. Friend, have you been making progress and suddenly you see yourself stagnated or retrogressed? Check your believe system. Check your faith. Cry to God for help and he will reach out His hand to you. (Psalms 138: 7). May you not sink in fear in Jesus’ name.
