Verse Of The Day : Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.- Galatians 6 : 2, 3 ).

LISTEN : We deceive ourselves when we ignore the commands of Christ. When I look at the type of Christianity practised today, it is not hard to differentiate it from the Christianity previously practised by the early church as recorded in the bible. Today in the Christian community, there is a high level of deception and hypocrisy among church members. We tend to say one thing but do another. We often promise others what we mean not to deliver. We tend to criticise and taunt fellow Christians when we should encourage them in the faith. Young believers in Christ are often abandoned and left to take care of their spiritual welfare when matured Christians are supposed to be the ones to guide them through their journey of faith. The needy and poor among us are deliberately ignored to helplessly take care of their own welfare. Most rich people in the church are living in their own world with no relationship with the lest privileged brothers and sisters in the family of faith. Except gathering for the usual church service, no one seem to care how the other is doing.

Beloved, we should emulate our Master Jesus Christ for he was known for love, kindness, mercy, generosity, compassion and the likes. The bibe said, ” How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”(Acts 10:38). The Christian’s mission is to impact the world like Christ Jesus did. Without impact our mission is lost and our responsibility is neglected. Jesus’s word to his disciples is to love one another. He said, ” This is my commandment: that you love one another as I have loved you.”(John 15:12). But why should we love one another as Jesus loved us? The bible says, ” Above all keep your love for one another fervent, because love covers a multitude of sins.”(1 Peter 4 : 8). Love is the solution to all manners of wrong done, or sin committed. Jesus died for us because of love even when we were yet sinners. (Romans 5:8). Therefore, we are to love others especially the family of faith (believers in Christ) with our lives. We should carry one another’s burden as genuine children of God. Our bible text today said, ” Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” (Galatians 6 : 2, 3 ). Brethren, let us not deceive ourselves by merely attending church services. Let us show our faith by our love for others.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. You are expected not to be a mere churchgoer, but a preserver of Jesus Christ’s legacies of goodness.
2. Always remember that you are deceiving yourself if you fail to follow the teachings of the bible on love for others.
3. Examine your Christian life to ascertain whether you are in line with Christ’ teaching or not.
4. Never ignore or neglect to do good for that is what we are called to do.

Daily Task : Do not deceive yourself by merely attending church services. show your faith daily by your unconditional love for others.

Daily Reflection : When we serve God in deceit we deceive ourselves, and such self-deception will result in self-destruction. Beware!

Prayer : Heavenly Father, I thank you for your word to me today, help me to share in the burdens of others. Make me a solution provider in Jesus’ name, amen.

Prophetic Word : Today, I prophesy over your life, God will cause his love to grow in your life and overflow to others unconditionally in Jesus’ name.
