Verse Of The Day: Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us.- 1 John 4 : 11 , 12.
LISTEN : Do you know that without love we look unlike God? Do you also know that we all are products of God’s love? That without love we have no place in Him and His Kingdom? Love is God’s attributes and nature. Therefore, to have a relationship with Him you must walk in love. Before God commanded us to love one another He first demonstrated it. He loved us when we were yet sinners. (Romans 5 : 8). He loved us when we were not prepared for Him but gone astray.
So if we love one another we are living like our heavenly Father. Your love for others demonstrate that you love God. Where you do not have love for others, there is no better evidence of ungodliness and unchristian lifestyle than that. If you claim to know God, you should express it through love. Beloved, we show to the world that Christ lives in us through love. The love here is to care about others. To care about their welfare and to commit to their wellbeing without intending to hurt them.
How many people today are into this business of love? How many are committed to loving others, especially among believers in Christ? Friend, without love for others, especially the brethren your claim of piety and faith in Christ is in vain. Beloved, do you know that the best way to love is to imitate God in His love? Our verse of the day said, ” Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us.” (1 John 4 : 11 , 12).
This simply mean that, if God so loved us as to send his Son to be a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins, and to obtain eternal life for us through his sufferings and death: we have no excuse not to love one another unconditionally (John 15 : 12); for those who are the objects of God’s love ought to be the objects of ours; and if God has loved our fellow Christians and brethren to such a degree, as to send his Son to die for them, we ought to love them too; and if we are interested in the same love, the obligation is still the greater; and if God loved them with so great a love, when they did not love him, but were enemies to him, then surely we ought to love them now they are become the friends of God and ours. We should love and continue to love God’s people as God loved them. (Hebrews 13 : 1).
Though there may be something in their temper and conduct we do not like: yet God is to be imitated in his love; and his love to us, which is unmerited and matchless, should influence and engage us to the love of the brethren, who have a far greater claim to our love than we can make to the love of God. May God help you to love others, especially the brethren in Christ, in Jesus’ name, amen.
