Verse Of The Day : Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.- Proverbs 4 : 14 – 15.

LISTEN : To tread the path of evil is to freely walk into destruction. (Romans 6 : 23). To submit to evil desires of the human nature is to surrender one’s destiny to Satan. Our human nature is naturally attracted to evil. Humans have the propensity to do what is wrong. Most often, the good you want to do you do not see yourself doing it; but the bad you do not want to do is what you see yourself doing. Thankfully, God has delivered us from the grip of sin through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ and has given us His Holy Spirit as our guide through the right path. In expressing his frustration and ordeal over sin, Apostle Paul recounted his misery in dealing with sin and God’s intervention through His beloved Son Jesus Christ.

In Romans 7 : 15 – 25 he said, ” And I have no clear knowledge of what I am doing, for that which I have a mind to do, I do not, but what I have hate for, that I do. But, if I do that which I have no mind to do, I am in agreement with the law that the law is good. So it is no longer I who do it, but the sin living in me. For I am conscious that in me, that is, in my flesh, there is nothing good: I have the mind but not the power to do what is right. For the good which I have a mind to do, I do not: but the evil which I have no mind to do, that I do. But if I do what I have no mind to do, it is no longer I who do it, but the sin living in me.

So I see a law that, though I have a mind to do good, evil is present in me. In my heart I take pleasure in the law of God, But I see another law in my body, working against the law of my mind, and making me the servant of the law of sin which is in my flesh. How unhappy am I! who will make me free from the body of this death? I give praise to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So with my mind I am a servant to the law of God, but with my flesh to the law of sin.”

The word of God has told us what is good and how to avoid evil. Our responsibility is to follow the path God had already made for us. Abandoning that path and following the path of evil will spell doom for us. Beloved, no matter the seduction or enticement, never give in to the tricks of the devil. Our text today said, ” Do not go in the road of sinners, or be walking in the way of evil men. Keep far from it, do not go near; be turned from it, and go on your way.” (Proverbs 4 : 14 – 15) Beloved, do not throw away this goodly and timely counsel, digest it and you will not make room for the devil.
