Verse Of The Day : Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.- Micah 2 : 1 , 2.
LISTEN : Do not oppress others. That is, to treat other people in a cruel or unfair way: to make someone feel sad or worried for a long period of time. Such is wickedness. The wicked has no future with God. God is angry with the wicked everyday. However, His love for mankind has made Him to provide a means of saving the wicked, and that is only possible through His beloved and sinless Son Jesus Christ. He is the reason why God has forgiven us, and will forgive every pertinent sinner or wicked fellow now and in the future. But anyone who refuses to accept the means of forgiveness and salvation (Jesus Christ) whom He has provided will be eternally punished.
Do not forget that God is not happy that you perish; He wants you to be saved. (2 Peter 3 : 9). Therefore, you must stay away from what He tagged “abomination and sin” before Him. Doing what God warned against will attract His wrath. This is why He pronounced a curse upon those who choose to live against His will. Here the curse was pronounced upon oppressors, who out of greed and covetousness oppressed others against the will of God. In our verse of the day the bible said, “Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.” (Micah 2 : 1, 2.).
Prophet Micah denounced judgment against oppressors of his days in Judah. These are people who schemes in the night. When greed takes possession of a man, it causes the brain to work by night as well as by day. Their scheme is to swindle, defraud, and plunder men. These they fabricate every night upon their bed. When men are asleep and resting, they are on their bed thinking of their next line of evil. What they constantly think about is ‘gain.’ Gain is the God of the greedy man. He sacrifices all his time and labour on its altar. They covet people’s houses, businesses, land, etc, and take them away forcibly and by oppression. However, judgment is coming. For judgment comes at last, and in the judgment the punishment will correspond with the sin. Because they did this grave evil, to deprive their fellow men of their possessions, God will bring evil upon them. Then all their days of enjoyment of evil wealth will end in sorrow and tragedy.
