Verse Of The Day : For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever…- Isaiah 9 : 6 , 7

LISTEN : The birth of a new born baby comes with hope, joy and celebrations. Those who receive the arrival of a long awaited baby will certainly heave a sigh of relief. In the same way, the birth of Jesus Christ came with so much joy and opportunities. His birth came with hope, comfort, healing, restoration, life, etc. Acts 10 : 38 gave a summarised statement that characterised Christ’s ministry – ” How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Jesus Christ was born to call, cure and clean sinners – we. All these were achieved by His unmatchable and supernatural power.

His birth has brought hope to mankind which was once taken away by the devil through sin. Beloved, the birth of Christ came with a lot of fortune. Our verse of the day said, ” For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9 : 6 , 7). Jesus Christ whom we celebrate His birth yearly was born for us. You and I were in the mind of God before Jesus Christ was born, bearing the plan of salvation in His life. For our sake, the sinless Son of God was given.

He was born to fulfill the purposes of God for mankind. He was born to bless and not to curse us. He was born to reconcile man to God. He was born to bring the government of peace of God to man – us. In the prophecy of Isaiah he said that he will rule over us His people, and bear our burdens. He will be our counsellor, our peace, our defender, our King, our God, our provider, our hope of eternal life. Above all, His Kingdom shall put to an end every other kingdom, and His Kingdom shall have no end. Beloved, the birth of Jesus Christ has established a Kingdom that the people of the world has not yet understand. Only those who believe in Him will He reveal it to. Certainly, at the close of this age, Christ will forever reign as king. As you celebrate Christmas, prepare to accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour. God bless you.
