Verse Of The Day : Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. – Psalms 145 : 3

LISTEN : We are in a new year – 2017, and we should be happy we all made it to the new year. Therefore, we must not do anything less than praise and worship God for it. To praise God is to express thanks to, or love and respect for Him. What can we do for God if not to praise, adore, honour, worship, revere, obey, and glorify Him. Our verse of the day said, “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised.” Beloved, when you consider the greatness of God, you will understand that He is a great God who should be praised. When you consider His goodness and love for mankind you will be move to praise Him. Greatest of all, He gave us Jesus Christ for our redemption. God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself. (2Corinthians 5 : 19).

Jesus Christ is the ‘great God’ as well as our Saviour; great in all the perfections of His nature, of great wisdom, power, faithfulness, holiness, grace, and goodness; great in his person as God-man, God manifest in the flesh; great in all His offices and relations, He bears and stands in to His people; and great in all His works of creation, providence, and redemption. Beyond doubt, God has demonstrated His goodness and greatness to the world; therefore, He is to be praised, and greatly to be praised by His people.

God is to be praised with all we have and with utmost capacities. Beloved, who else is to be praised if not God? His greatness has no end. His greatness is unsearchable; that is, the greatness of His nature, and the perfections of it; these are past finding out; and so are His ways and works, and the riches of His grace. Our God is great and worthy to be the object of people’s praise, day and night (Psalms 145:1-3).

Those who knows God’s greatness and goodness should meditate upon it and proclaim it to others. The whole earth is full of God’s greatness and goodness towards mankind. Not only is God great, but He is full of goodness, showing covenant faithfulness to His people and gracious love to people everywhere. Therefore, those who have tasted His love should show their gratitude by praising him and telling others of His mighty works. In this way they will help spread His rule to the lives of others. Today, let us reflect on the greatness and goodness of God and offer praise to Him for another opportunity to be in the land of the living.
