Verse Of The Day: We walk by faith, not by sight – 2 Corinthians 5:7

LISTEN: People tend to faint under afflictions when they do not receive immediate deliverance from their trouble, when their prayers are not answered at once, when promises did not come as expected; and sometimes, because their strength is small (Proverbs 24 : 10). But should we faint under afflictions? Of course not! We serve a living God who knows and cares. God almighty is a God of possibilities. With Him, no situation is too difficult or impossible to handle. (Jer 32 : 27 ; Mat 19:26).

With him there is no condition too bad that he cannot change. He wants us to live in the realm of faith, the realm where we believe that everything is possible: the realm of unwavering faith. He wants us to walk by faith, not by sight. That is, to live with the conviction that He exists and is the creator and ruler of all things, the provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ. Oh! What a mighty God we serve.

God wants us to rely on him. Though we cannot see him, but we can feel him; we may not trace him, but we can trust him. This is because, faith is the guaranty of things hoped for, the evidence, or convincing proof of things not seen.(Hebrews 11:1). Our verse of the day shows the way and how Christians ought to live. We are to conduct ourselves in our course of life with reference to the things which are unseen, and not with reference to the things which are seen.

To walk by faith is to live in the confident expectation of things that are to come; in the belief of the existence of unseen realities, and allowing them to influence us as if they were seen. Christians are not to live like the people of this world who lives just for this present life. People who live just for wealth, honour, fame, popularity, praise, money, etc. People whose lives revolves around the things of this world as though everything begins and ends here; or as if they ought not to be influenced by the things which are unseen (things with eternal value).

Besides, Christians are different people who ought to live with a firm believe in the Omnipotence of God, and not to allow life’s circumstance affect their confidence and faith in God. Finally, walking by faith is the lifestyle of the righteous, and they are preserved by it. Those who walk by faith are not bothered by challenging and prevailing circumstances, because they know certainly that such situations are temporary.

Beloved, do not forget this, if you choose to walk by sight, you are both limited in thinking and spirituality; as a result, you will lose God’s approval (Heb. 10:38). Determine today to walk by faith and not by sight.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
