Verse Of The Day: I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place. Psalms 118:5

LISTEN: Are you in trouble? Is your hope gone because of pressures all around you? Are you given up because your reasons for hope seems to be gone? Have you exhausted all available options to you and nothing seemed to be working out? Cheer up! All hope is not lost. Have you tried prayer? I know you will not hesitate to reply that you pray everyday. I will not doubt you, but is it the kind of prayer I am talking about? The prayer I am talking about here is the “prayer of faith”.

A lot of christians today do not give the needed attention, time and passion to prayer. They seemed to have forgotten that prayer is an integral part of our walk with God. They attend religious meetings, participate in singing and dancing in the church, but loses energy and interest the moment there is a call for prayer.

Did Jesus Christ our Master ever neglected to pray? What about the apostles and the early church, did they ever neglected to pray? So, to be victorious, it is obvious that we cannot do without prayer. Not just to pray, but to pray in faith with total trust in God. Beloved, do you not know that there are troubles and afflictions everywhere? How can we survive the pains and poison of afflictions without prayer? Remember, sincere prayer is an act of faith.

You cannot pray to God when you do not trust in Him. David in our verse of the day recognised God’s grace over the afflicted and the oppressed, hence he called on Him and God answered him. Are you facing similar or worst situation? Pray! The bible recommends that you pray. The bible says, ” Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.” (James 5: 13).

David understood the power of prayer, as a result he never failed to employ it in his moments of distress and afflictions. Out of distress, in the very midst of trouble David called upon the Lord; his voice was heard, as it were, coming from the depth of his sorrows. (Psa 18:6).

In the same way, when you pray, where you were pressed down and afflicted before; overwhelmed with sorrows, etc, God will give you victory and deliverance. Beloved, pray in faith, pray and pray again. Remember, nothing lies beyond the reach of prayer except that which lies outside the will of God. So when every other thing has failed, try the prayer of faith. Pray till you breakthrough.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Do not pray only when you are in trouble, rather pray to commune and maintain a relationship with God
