Verse Of The Day: Everything you do should be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16 : 14

LISTEN: Could it be said of you that what you did was done out of genuine love for others? Are your actions and reactions fuelled by love? Do you love base on feelings, or God’s standard? Do you know that if you love base on feelings, when feelings dies, love will die? Beloved, God’s standard of love is different from what the world call love.

The world takes love to mean how someone makes them feel or how they feel about someone else, but God says love is about how you behave and treat others. We children of God needs to know what genuine love is all about. Where genuine love is expressed, unity among believers in Christ and others is fostered. Besides, it will keep friendships, marriages, workplaces, relationships, communities and families together. Where love is expressed genuinely, the loving lifestyle and nature of Christ are reproduced.

We are to love like God for God is love ( 1 John 4: 7). The bible stated the attributes of genuine love, and it says, “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely. Love does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13 4 :7).

This simply means that, Love is not a feeling, is not an emotion, nor an attraction; is not having an affair with the opposite sex, is not liking someone, but moral character and demonstrating the true nature of God through one’s life. Beloved, Are you loving like Jesus Christ our Master? Are you doing all you are doing today out of love? Have you considered your deeds lately? Was it because of love that you did what you did? If you are sincere with your answers, you will know that most of the things we do are not out of love, but feelings.

Jesus Christ died for us not because of the feelings He had for us, but because of love. That is why even when we were yet sinners He still died, because His love is unconditional. Beloved, can we do things differently from today? Can we marry our spouses, give, help and relate with others because of love, with no strings attached? Henceforth, let us learn to do everything because of love, for it will save us from the consequences of doing things for selfish and ulterior motives.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Always let your actions and reactions be based on God’s standard of love.
2. Never be selfish in your dealings with others, but always consider the next person.
3. Do not relate with others based on mere feelings, but God’s unconditional love
4. Express God’s kind of love to all, and determine to be an example of Jesus Christ to the world.

Daily Task: Do not allow selfishness to govern your actions towards God and others, rather allow God’s love to be the foundation of your life.

Daily Reflection: No one can genuinely love, if the love of God is not the foundation of his or her love.

Daily Prayer: Almighty God, I thank you because your love is unmatchable, help me to love like you no matter what, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Prophetic Declaration: Today, I prophesy over your life, the spirt of genuine love for God and mankind is upon you. As you genuinely love others, God will cause others to love and bless you, in Jesus’ name.
