Verse Of The Day: My times are in your hand, deliver me from the hand of my enemies; and from them that persecute me. Psalms 31:15
LISTEN: We do not own ourselves, God owns us. We came from Him and to Him we shall all go. Our times (days or lives) are in the hands of God. (Psalms 24 : 1). We came to the world with specific assignments, and we equally have our various times of departure from this world. By nature, we possess in ourselves our earthly valid periods and expiring dates; that is, a time to be born and a time to die. We are individually designed according to the purpose of God. No matter how clever, wise, strong, powerful, enduring, etc, one may seem, it will not change the purpose of God.
God is the one who determines our destiny. The events of our lives are under his control. Anyone who believes in Him cannot be frustrated by circumstances of this life. He knows our going out and our coming in. Beloved, your life is not an accident to Him, neither are you in control of your life or the lives of others, but God is. Sadly, a lot of people behaves in a way that suggest that they have taken the place of God in deciding the events of the lives of others. They afflict, kill, maim, persecute, destroy and do many evils to others because they believe that they are in control of the world.
They engage in making life miserable for others. They put others under undeserved pressures and inhuman treatment. They do not care about the feelings of others, nor regard the voice of conscience. Their delight is in making life miserable for others. They put people through unnecessary and undeserved pressures. David was under such pressure when he wrote this psalm. However, he said, ” My times are in your hand” (v.15). Although he was going through numerous afflictions from the hands of his enemies, yet he believed that God has the final say in his life, not man.
David believed that God was in full control of the events of his life. His expression in our verse of the day was that no danger can happen to him without God’s foresight. He knows that God sees what is prepared for, or meditated against him. He was sure that God will deliver him from his enemies. (Psalms 17 : 8 , 9). In the same way, God will also deliver you. Do not be afraid of the wicked who may have designed evil against you, for your life is not in their hands. No matter what you are going through today, the LORD will keep you from evil because, your time is in His hands and not in the hands of your enemies.
