Verse Of The Day: If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto you of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people. Micah 2 : 11.

LISTEN: Oh! How people are deceived to believe countless lies from very many places where “prophesies” are being declared to them. Because of desperation and ignorance, a lot of people do not analyse nor prove these prophesies, they believe them hook, line and sinker. No doubt, there are still true prophets of God , but one must be careful not to be a victim of false prophecies. Our generation is one that is bankrupt of God’s word, as a result, anything or anyone can toss us to and fro with falsehood. We tend to believe anything whether they are God’s will or not. Because of people’s ignorance and hunger for “prophecies” today, even witch doctors are bearing the name prophets, prophetesses, men and women of God in hypocrisy.

A lot of the so-called prophets, men and women of God are only serving their own agenda, not God’s. (Romans 16 : 18 ; Philippians 3 : 19). They take advantage of desperate and ignorant people and deceived them to believe lies that they should ordinarily resist. Right from the days of old, false Prophets have been in operation. The bible says, “This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.” (Jeremiah 23 : 16).

Sadly, most people out of desperation are heartily patronising such people who lie in the name of the LORD. False prophets are everywhere. In Jeremiah’s day, there was no shortage of false prophets. They had audiences that loved their messages but hated what Jeremiah was saying because he was speaking the truth and that was that they needed to repent and humble themselves before God. In the same way, the words of true prophets or ministers of God do not please the ears of the listeners (2Tim 4:3).

Today, people want the miracles of God and not the God of miracle. They are pleased when a ‘prophet’ tells them what to buy or what amount of money to pay to get their problems solved. They want a religion that would cost them nothing. Beloved, do you think that the Word of God that comforts the afflicted is not the same that should afflict the comfortable? Is God more concerned about your physical life than He is concerned about your eternal life? Should a prophet continue to speak favour and prosperity to the people and not also warn them against evil?

Beloved, be careful because false prophets are everywhere. The bible says, ” And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” (Matthew 24 : 11 , 24). Beloved, miracles, signs and wonders are not a guarantee of God’s approval. False prophets uses signs and wonders to deceive desperate and ignorant ones. This is why the bible enjoins us to have God’s word dwelling richly in our hearts.(Colosians 3 : 16). Beloved, open your eyes, and be not deceived.
