Verse Of The Day: So I say to you, Take no thought for your life, about food or drink, or about clothing for your body. Is not life more than food, and the body more than its clothing? Matthew 6 : 25

LISTEN: Life is full of situations that could trigger worry. Unfortunately, no matter how we worry, nothing seems to change. What is worry? Worry is to think about problems or fears: it is to feel or show fear and concern because you think that something bad has happened or could happen. Unfortunately, worry never solved any problem, instead, it has always compounded and worsened situations. (Proverbs 15 : 13 ; 17 : 22). We tend to worry ourselves over things we cannot control. We worry because we sense danger, or feel helpless over the situation. We worry ourselves virtually about everything, because things seem to be out of control.

People have countless reasons why they worry themselves. Many worry about financial issues, marriage, the economy, academics, disobedient child/children, health, the future, etc. Because we cannot control these things mentioned above, we worry ourselves over them. But should we worry ourselves? Can we change anything by worrying over it? Will worry solve the problem or add to it? If worry cannot help, what then should we do? Listen to what we should do, we should listen to the words of Christ and deliver our souls from the torments of worry.

Jesus Christ said to his disciples, ” Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than food and more to the body than clothing?” (Matthew 6 : 25). Obviously, his disciples were struggling with various needs that seemed pressing but with no obvious solution, as a result he enjoined them not to worry themselves about anything. They were in need of food, clothing, etc., but Jesus asked them not to worry about these things. So what then should they do? Watch helplessly until solutions come? Of course not!

Firstly, they were to trust in God, and to do the ones they can and leave the ones they cannot to Him. Secondly, they were to acknowledge that He cannot fail to meet their needs. Thirdly, in every circumstance they should ask for His directions and stop worrying about their needs. Fourthly, They were to be patient and trust Him to fix their challenges. Beloved, having known these, you are equally expected to know that worry is useless and stupid. It is unnecessary, unhelpful and unreasonable. (Matthew 6 : 27 – 30).

You should shun worry because it is destructive, frustrating and an expression of lack of wisdom in the affairs of this life. Besides, it is a demonstration of lack of faith in God. Instead of worrying about your needs, pray and seek for help and certainly you will find help if you refuse to quit. ( Phi 4 : 6 , 19) Beloved, break your tie with worry henceforth to save your life from destruction and death.
