Verse of the Day: Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless his Holy name. Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all His benefits…and tender mercies.- Psalms 103 : 1 – 4

LISTEN: Being grateful to God for His goodness ought not to be neglected. No matter what you think or feel God should be praised for His goodness upon our lives. We should be grateful for all He has done for us. Sadly, how quick we are to forgot to thank Him for His mercies and goodness! We tend to count our losses, misfortunes and miseries than we count our favours and blessings.

We have the tendency to forget God’s goodness in our lives because of selfishness and greed. We always expect more from God because we believe that He has not done enough for us. What an unfair treatment to the unspeakable goodness of God! Conversely, in remembering the goodness and mercies of God to him, the Psalmist David, in our verse of the day said, “Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless his Holy name. Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all His benefits…and tender mercies.”(Psalms 103:1 – 4).

Beloved, should we not respond to the goodness and mercies of God with gratitude like David did? Should we neglect or forget to thank God? Of course not! Nothing should stop us from appreciating God for all benefits received. Beloved, do you ever care to thank God for His goodness towards you? With your ‘tight schedule’ and busy lifestyle, incessant compliant and excuses, do you have time anymore to reflect on the goodness and mercies of God in your life?. Or have you allowed the cares, challenges and trials of this life to dictate your mood and response to God?

No doubt, people often encounter challenging times. However, those negative moments and ordeals of our lives must not blind our eyes to the countless blessings of God towards us. Friend, you might win the argument that you do not have any good reasons to thank God for, but it is because you do not know what God has done for you. My dear, there are many out there who are envious of you and wish that their lives would be like yours, but they could not find such opportunity.

Beloved, it is time to come out of such negative mindset and begin to bless the LORD today for good health, provisions, protection, life, etc. To bless the Lord is more than just give praise to Him: it is to praise Him with affection and gratitude. This is what the living should do. (Psalms 92:1). We will praise God if we consider his greatness, mercies and kindness. So begin today to praise God for all his goodness and mercies in your life and the lives of others.
