Verse Of The Day: “Because of the violence done to the oppressed, because of the painful cries of the needy, I will spring into action,” says the LORD. “I will provide the safety they so desperately desire.” Psalms 12:5

LISTEN: Do you think that God does not know, nor care about your problems? Have you concluded that God has abandoned you just because you are facing some hard and trying times? Beloved, you should know that God cannot abandon anyone no matter his or her condition. God is not man who has the nature of selfishness; who does not care most times about the welfare of the next person. God has regard for the poor, oppressed, afflicted, neglected, marginalised, helpless and the likes.

He is hurt when the poor and needy are oppressed. Sadly, many will rather oppress the poor than stand for them; because they want to stay in control, therefore, the poor are being oppressed and made to suffer miserably. Beloved, God is not happy when the poor in our midst are treated with such wickedness. Any mistreatment to the poor is indirectly done to God, the creator. Maybe you are surprised with this statement, but that is the truth. The bible says, ” The one who oppresses the poor insults his Creator, but whoever shows favor to the needy honors him.” (Proverbs 14 : 31 NET).

Similarly, in Proverbs 17 : 5 the bible says, “The one who mocks the poor insults his Creator; whoever rejoices over disaster will not go unpunished.” Beloved, God cares for the poor and wants us to do likewise. God is a kind and compassionate God, and He wants His people to show kindness to people in need. Unfortunately, most privileged people takes delight in mocking the poor and needy. They enjoy reminding the poor of their miseries and misfortunes. They failed to know that every insult one gives to the poor or less privileged, is an insult against God his creator.

Our verse of the day says, “Because of the violence done to the oppressed, because of the painful cries of the needy, I will spring into action,” says the LORD. “I will provide the safety they so desperately desire.” (Psalms 12:5 KJV). God cannot be silent forever, at the appointed time He will certainly rise up in defense of the oppressed. He said that He will fight for the poor who are oppressed; who sigh everyday because of suffering. He promises to deliver them from the proud and those who seem to be stronger than them.

Beloved, let us be sincere with our service to God. Let us demonstrate the kind of attitude Jesus would show to the poor and needy if He were here. Remember, if we truly love Him, we cannot abandon our task – the act of kindness, care and love for the less privileged.
