Verse Of The Day: Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering! Psalms 25 : 17

LISTEN: God answers prayer. His door of grace is opened to all. He does not disappoint those who call on him from a sincere heart. That is why he wants us to pray to him in our distresses and believe he is going to hear us. (Jeremiah 33 : 3). No matter the situation God promises to address our cases. (Jeremiah 32 : 27). We should learn to trust in him than man. It is a waste of time to put total confidence in man. Man is not God, therefore has the tendency to fail, disappoint, die, deceive, change, etc. Not to pray to God is to be slayed by troubles of life. Those who fail to pray to God stray away from him.

Crying to man in times of trouble for help may fail, because that is the nature of man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Beloved, are you going through some afflictions? Is your life full of pains, shame and sorrows? And you think you can rely on your connections, wealth, etc., to remedy the situation? Not so, for they will all fail at some point. Rely on God. God knows your distresses and burdens. He knows your cry for deliverance. Yes! He knows that no one is immune to pains and sufferings, everyone at one point or the other taste a dose of it. Certainly he wll see you through.

When trouble comes, it does appear like we are not going to come out of it. We often panic and miss what should be done. We are always too quick to forget God and go in search of alternative “solutions” when our distresses seem to increase. Beloved, if your distress increases, should your cry for deliverance not increase? God is a merciful and compassionate Father, his attentive ears are itching to hear your distress call. Pray to him and do not quit. Those who quit praying end up surrounding themselves with worries.

In our verse of the day, David in the midst of his afflictions prayed and said, ” Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering”(Psalms 25:17). He prayed desperately and persistently to God because the affliction was more than he could handle. And because he prayed to God, he delivered him. David said, ” Surely he rescued me from all trouble, and I triumph over my enemies.(Psalms 54 : 7). Beloved, are you in some form of danger or distress? Like David, pray to the LORD today, and he will deliver you from your distresses. Remember, to pray is to conquer, and to pray expectantly is to conquer totally.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?

2. Trust the LORD to deliver you from your troubles when you pray to him.
3. Never give up in times of trouble, rather wait till your help comes.
