Verse Of The Day: Whoso curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness. Proverbs 20:20
LISTEN: No doubt, some fathers and mothers can be very unfair and hard on their children. Some curse and swear for their children undermining the consequences of such ungodly and satanic acts. They act in ways that makes their children believe that they are hated by their parents. As a result, most children grew up to see their parents as enemies rather than friends. They are forced to harbour bitterness against them (parents) because of ill treatment meted to them (children). This spirit of bitterness is nurtured all through their lives and vent later in life on their parents who they sees as enemies. Parents who curses their children are so ungrateful to God for his gift of children.
Beloved, we are commanded by God to honour our parents no matter what. God is the judge, hence trying to avenge yourself of the wrong done to you by your parents is to take the place of God. You may have a bad father or mother yet, that does not permit you to disrespect or mistreat them. The bible says, ” Honour your father and your mother: that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.” (Exodus 20 : 12 ; Ephesians 6 : 2). God’s commandment to honour our parents was not limited to good parents alone, but to both good and bad ones. So when you decide to disregard this command on the ground that your parent(s) are evil you are guilty of disobedience to God.
Beloved, are you the type that curses his or her parents? Or go as far as beating them up for the evil meted to you when you were young? Are you cursing and maltreating them as payback for what they did to you? Please stop! When you revenge on the wrong your parents committed against you, seed of evil will not leave your lineage. The way to stop the spread of evil seed in the family is to not plant another, but rather attack the ones already planted. There are consequences for cursing ones mother or father. The bible says, ” Whoso curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.” (Proverbs 20:20). This simply means that, evil awaits anyone who disrespect or curses his or her parents no matter what. Beware!
