Verse Of The Day: You shall not murder. Exodus 20 : 13
LISTEN: Life is precious and sacred, but the sacredness of life has been undermined today by many people. A lot of people, especially the youths and some others who are hungry for power and wealth has often used the blood of others as means of achieving their selfish ambitions. Human life means nothing to them. Their own ambitions are worth more than any person’s life. People pay and receive money to kill and maim others just for selfish reasons. God who created human life, created it for his own purpose, but man destroys the same life because of his own selfish reasons.
God’s word is clear on this; the bible says, ” You shall not murder.” (Exodus 20 : 13). That is, do not commit the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice premeditated. Beloved, no one has the right to take the life of another no matter what. People murder others because they do not know the source of life. God is the source of life and he holds life sacred. Hence, to take the life of another is to question God’s authority and ownership of life. Those who sees no sacredness in the lives of others, will soon lose the sacredness of their own lives.
God commanded the Israelites through Moses not to commit murder. He wants them to acknowledge that everyone’s life is precious and sacred to him (God). As much as you want to live, others want to live too. As much as your life is precious to you, the lives of others are precious to them too. Why should you take the life of another while you protect yours? Is it not because it is precious to you? Beloved, for whatever reason you want to take the life of another, think and think again. Do not forget that murder is a heinous crime against God and man; and sinners will not go unpublished. (Proverbs 11 : 21). Beloved, do not take the life of another, for all lives belongs to God.
