Verse Of The Day: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4 : 7

LISTEN: One may ask, ‘who am I really fighting with?’ Beloved, we are talking about spiritual battle here – the battle of obedience and disobedience. The battle of freeing yourself from the dominance of the devil, and surrendering to the authority of God almighty. You must learn to resist the devil, because his business is to influence you to live in enmity with God through disobedience. To live in constant enmity with God is to be doomed forever. The devil is cunning, therefore, it is not possible to resist him until you submit to God. That is, to readily obey and follow His will.

The bible tells us that the flesh constantly fights against the spirit, as the spirit fights against the flesh. (Galatians 5 : 17). This battle for supremacy between the flesh and the spirit over your life will not end till you depart from this world. However, the good news is that, you can choose what happens to you in this battle of your flesh against your desire to do the will of God. You can choose to surrender to the will of your flesh, or surrender to the leading of the Holy Spirit of God. Whom you choose to surrender to will dominate your passion, affection and appetite.

If you choose the flesh over the Spirit, you will be attracted and attached to the things of the world, but if you choose the Spirit over the flesh (carnal nature), you will be attracted and attached to the things that makes God happy (Colosians 3 : 2 – 4). Beloved, to abandon God in favour of the world is to exist without divine purpose; and anyone devoid of divine purpose has no place in God. This means that you must learn to follow God’s will. Do you know that it is easier to follow your will, than to follow the will of God? And easier to obey the devil than to obey God? This is because the sinful nature in man finds it difficult to live in line with the will of God.(Romans 8 : 7).

Thankfully, when you make the decision to submit yourself to God and resist the devil, he (devil) will have no choice but to flee your Holy Spirit- controlled life. Beloved, you are not designed to fail, rather you are destined to win. Therefore, examine your life thoroughly, if there is still a place you are resisting God, determine to make amends. Rather than resist God, resist the devil. Henceforth, submit yourself to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Always resist the devil in your life and he will certainly flee.
2. Determine to submit yourself to God no matter the pressure to do otherwise.
3. Never allow the ‘pleasures’ of this life to keep you from focusing on eternity.
4. Do not be discouraged when you fail in the fight against sin, rather rely on the LORD for help.

Daily Task: No matter the pressure to satisfy your inordinate desires, resist it, resist it again and again; because to live in constant enmity with God is to be doomed forever.

Daily Reflection: No one can resist the devil and cause him to flee except he or she has chosen to submit to God almighty sincerely.

Daily Prayer: Almighty God, I thank you for today, I know that I cannot resist the devil without your power, help me to overcome him and his agents, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Prophetic Declaration: Today, I prophesy over your life, any attempt to keep you away from God and your divine purpose, I come against it. I decree that you will fulfill the will of God for your life, in Jesus’ name.

Daily Quote: To abandon God in favour of the world is to exist without divine purpose; and to exist without divine purpose is to have no place in God.
