Verse Of The Day: Am he that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Revelations 1 : 18.
LISTEN: The Easter story is a wonderful and interesting story of Jesus Christ’s victory over death and Satan. He came, he died and conquer the power of the grave. He died that he might render Satan powerless and abolish the curse of eternal death on mankind. The bible says, “Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in their humanity, so that through death he could destroy the one who holds the power of death (that is, the devil), and set free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death.” (Hebrews 2 : 14 , 15). Death has since the fall of man held mankind captives against the will of God. Thankfully, Jesus came in the image of man to deliver us through his death from the fear of death.
His resurrection is a demonstration of his power over death and Satan. It is a proof that, to a believer in Christ, death is not the end of life but a transition to a higher, better and glorious life. When Jesus visited the family of his bosom friend Lazarus, he was told that his friend had died and buried since four days. Truly he knew that Lazarus was dead, but he told his disciples that they were going to Bethany to wake him up (John 11 : 1 – 14). Because he is the owner of life, he chose to demonstrate God’s glory through Lazarus. In his conversation with Martha, Lazarus’s sister he said “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even if he dies, and the one who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11 : 25 , 26).
Beloved, Christ has defeated death for us. Even if we naturally die in this life we shall never die again. By his death we have escaped eternal condemnation and damnation. By his death and resurrection, our lives are hidden in God. The keys of hell and death has been transferred from the hand of Satan to his own hands. Therefore, you must stop to live your life with the fear of death, but the fear of God. Our verse of the day says, ” Am he that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.(Revelations 1 : 18). Praise God! Christ has conquer death and has made us more than conquerors.
