Verse Of The Day: There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band. A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. Acts 10 : 1 , 2.

LISTEN: He or she who genuinely fear and revere God cannot leave out family members in Christian devotion. A genuine christian parent do not fear, love , or worship God alone, but does it with all members of his or her family. He or she motivates and encourages family members to be dedicated to God. Obviously, human beings needs motivation and encouragement, as a result they hardly do certain things without a push. They love to be spurred to action. Where there is no one to spur them to action they tend to relent from doing the needful. We should challenge our family members to a formidable devotional life. It is the responsibility of every God-fearing parent.

We all should endeavour to build God-fearing homes. Beloved, your life is not complete without devotion to God. When you neglect to devote yourself and your family to God you have severe yourselves from him. Your family is not safe without the fear of God. (Proverbs 10 : 27). With the trend of evil all over the world today, a Godly parent will not stop to point his or her children to God. A true Christian parent will always teach his or her children the ways of God. In our verse of the day, we read about Cornelius, a commander of Italian army, who had one hundred soldiers under his control. He was not an Israelite, but has the fear of God in him and his entire household, and was full of kindness. He raised his family in the fear of God.

Beloved, how often do you challenge your own family to dedicate themselves to God? When last did you fellowship together with your family in morning and evening devotions? Have you forgotten that you are to lead your family to God? Beloved, you need to do that because it is vital to your family spiritual and physical life. Besides, devotion to God will unite the family and sweeten home life. It will bear a Christian witness to the guests in our homes; will equally encourage us to put Christianity into practice in our homes, and aid our children in becoming better Christians and help them to develop ideals that will guide them in vital Christian living. May we not neglect to build up our homes in the fear of God, in Jesus’ name.
